Extremely interesting class if you are into the subject, and even if you aren't Dr. Marty makes the class funny and engaging if you choose to participate. Very easy grading just attendance and your final paper which can be on anything. All you have to do to get an A is show up enough times and follow the instructions on the paper. Really nice guy.

Best Professor ever! Dr. Marty is incredibly engaging and makes online night classes something to look forward to. He walks you through every assignment and makes them actually fun to do. I learned a lot about museums through the assignments and through the special guest speakers he brought in. Take it!

If you ever get the chance to take a class taught by Paul Marty, DO IT. He is honestly one of my favorite professors at FSU. I took his Exploring Emerging Technologies class in the spring 2017 semester, and all semester we planned an executed the Torch the Green event which was SO fun. He is very inspirational and cares about his students. Easy A.

Definitely one of my favorite classes I've taken. He makes class interesting and always has funny anecdotes to go along with the info we're going over in class. 3 little group projects and one final paper that you work on all semester so an A is definitely attainable! 10/10 reccommend

Dr. Marty is the best professor I had this semester. He draws interesting parallels and the subject matter has real impact on all of us. Quite funny and casual; discussion is easy because we get to talk about our everyday lives in relation to the topic at hand.

Not professional.Starts class late, talks about himself & whatever's on his mind rather than subject. Not great about email. Took more than a month to grade our papers.Just lectures-no notes, slides, etc. in Elluminate.Students led discussion of readings, which was tedious, unhelpful.Work minimal, class is easy A, but I didn't learn anything.

The professor has a great wealth of knowledge and is very helpful. However, the classes do tend to wander a bit, sometimes for an hour plus. The workload is moderate with 2 fairly lengthy papers (3000 words each).

Very clear and knowledgeable. Keeps class fun and interesting all the time and allows discussion among students without loosing control of the chat. It is fine to have a different opinion and defend it: he is willing to listen to the explanation and either supports the student's reasoning or explains the student is wrong politely. Great professor!

Very knowledgeable. Keeps control of the class all the time. Answers e-mails very quickly. Willing to clarify assignments and due dates repeatedly. Understands that many students have no previous knowledge of the area and answers even the most basic questions.I highly recommend him and this class. Very fun and colloquial classes.

Comment:
Dr. M. is one of those profs who would rather be researching than teaching. His lack of interest in students' growth is disappointing. He refuses requests for deeper explanations & directly refuses to help outside of class. Unfortunately his self-absorption seeps into his lectures when they veer off into rants about tenure & other personal issues.

Okay leader, knows about libraries (not much else). Does not teach, leaves students to teach themselves. I can do that on my own. Okay if you like Plato (Socratic) method.

I took Usability Analysis with Dr. Marty online. I thought he was great. Very knowledgeable and helpful. The online chats were sometimes a little disjointed, but always entertaining. The workload was moderate and spaced evenly throughout the semester. Expectations and grading criteria for assignments were very clear.
