Comment:

If you want an easy A, take Weller. However, attendance is graded and he's SOOO boring and doesn't challenge his students. All I was graded on were three exams (online with practice exams), attendance, and a group project. We never even read anything, we just watched four plays in class.

He assigns presentations rather than essays. And his grading criteria is straight forward. His facial expressions are absolutely hilarious and he isn't afraid to voice his opinion. 100% love this man and would take every one of my classes with him if I could. Easy A!

Comment:

Weller is a classic old school teacher, he has old man humor, he expects you to show up and take notes. Make sure to take notes, or at least pay attention during lectures because the quizzes are straight from lecture. The class is an easy pass as long as you show.

This guy is excruciatingly boring. He marked me absent on days where I was obviously there, and will mark you absent if you ever go to the bathroom during class. I would not recommend him.

The class overall is super easy. You really just need to skim the readings. But make sure to TAKE NOTES all of his quizzes are based directly on his lectures, so you also have to go to class. At first I wasn't a fan but he grew on me throughout the quarter and I really liked his class. His humor is subtle too.

He was wonderful! Funny, and had a lot of information on the topic! He is older so it is sometimes hard to stay on topic. And he has you do presentations which are definitely more entertaining than lecture. They are short and easy, nothing to be afraid about. His syllabus is on Canvas and are the notes he uses for lecture.

Worst teacher Ive had in 5 yrs of college. Has syllabus in obscure location online. I don't have internet, so I printed it off, but he changes it. Attendance is "mandatory," yet despite missing a majority of the class due to illness I still got an A-, so why is it mandatory??? Counts you as absent if you are tardy. Boring voice and horrible method.

He really is a harsh grader, he is not clear on what he wants for the essay part of the tests. I didn't like that I couldn't interpret a poem my own way; it seemed like I had to have the same opinion as him to get a good grade on the essays.

He is boring,talks slow, & is very rude.He will give about 100 questions to study and picks out about 7 on the test. Most of his lectures are on blackboard & you fill in the information he gives you as you go.On tests if you dont write his opinion as the answer he will fail you.Don't try to reschedule your final even if there's an emergency!

Despite what the comments here say, Dr. Weller is highly knowledgeable and provides a lot of insight on material that is archaic or otherwise hard to understand. I have taken two classes with Dr. Weller, and he is fair and knows his stuff. Compared to other professors in the department, his homework load is pretty low and his tests aren't hard.

it wasn't so bad. i had no interest whatsoever in taking a shakespeare class, so it was better than i thought it would be. we watched 3 or 4 movies in class and attendence isn't mandatory. even if it was boring, at least it was super easy, and you can't help but learn something about shakespeare if you didn't know anything before like me

Weller is an old man with BIG glasses, he tends to speak REALLY slowly and is very boring. This class was alright,but it got very boring toward the end and I had little motivation to go.

Horrible teacher. I tried my best read all the text book but he gave me the worst grade and told me I'm not passing. I asked him for another chance but he just gave me a dirty look and walked away. His lecture is very boring as all other people say. He needs to retire.

This man is absurdly boring and a distant human being. He looks like he's enjoy himself as little as his students are. I didn't read any of Shakespeare's works all quarter and I got a 3.0. I just hand-wrote some SparkNotes and did decent on almost all the tests.

This class was a complete waste of my time. Weller was a complete and total dud. His comments were completely offensive and uneccesary. He only 'taught' the stuff that he enjoyed reading instead of teaching what really needed to be taught. If you have a class with Lurch in the future, here is a warning: drink your coffee and prepare to be bored!!!!
