Okay, at first I was hesitant to take any class with this professor, especially after taking his 17th century art and architecture class. However, after taking the AH401 with him, I have grown to LOVE this professor. He knows everything about Architecture, and has a great sense of humor--you just need to listen for it, and get to know him!

Rand was the single most influential Professor I had at Hamilton. Sure, he may be a bit prickly and "old-school" but hey, welcome to the real world kids. If you have an interest in why art and architecture are integral parts of culture then you would be remiss to spend 4 years at Hamilton and not take a course from him. 1st rate intellect. TGP

Okay I'm a girl and I got an A, and it wasn't even that hard. It only made me realize how most people simply don't study at all. I learned so much from this professor on a subject I had no previous knowledge nor interest. He deserves respect for being so knowledgeable and helpful.

Professor Carter's grading system has nothing to do with how you perform on assignments. A professor who issues grades solely on a subjective scale, seemingly based on where you sit in class, has no business teaching anywhere. His classroom demeanor deters many students from seeking any help from him. Do not take his classes unless you have to.

Class is anything but art history.First half learned about physics and mechanics of buildings, second half the sociological effects of architecture/urban sprawl.Carter is boring and monotone (yet easy to make fun of), and can be really blunt.However, his expectations for his students are clear, is knowledgable, and eventually opens up.OK grader.

Worst teacher I have had a hamilton. He is **** and an ****. I went to him for help and he just taught me another class in his office for 3 hours and would not let me ask questions. Makes you feel like an idiot! BE WARNED I THOUGHT I WOULD DO OK AND HE KILLED ME!
