Comment:

Speaks in a monotone which makes it extremely difficult to follow him, and he is never accessible outside class. He gives pop quizzes and makes them worth a gruesome 15% of the final grade to force people to attend. First two exams were easy. The final exam screwed everyone over and the average was around 50%, but he curves the class eventually.

Comment:

Kumar isn't a very exciting instructor, but his course policies are very clear and quite lenient. He shoots down questions on occasion, but he usually works to foster a good learning environment for the class and posts lots of materials online. If it weren't for the pop quizzes, there was little reason to ever go to class.

His 324 class is an easy A if you do the homework and pay attention in lecture. The exams are graded fairly and based on the homework. Always willing to answers any questions and is very polite.

I started off not liking Kumar however he grew on me as the semester when on. In the end I think he has become my favorite ISU teacher. Fair exams (excluding the final but it was graded fair).

Comment:

Didn't like him at first, but grew on me by the end of the semester. If you show that you care about understanding the material throughout the semester he will like you. I went to his office hours several times, and he will explain the problems until you understand them.

Terrible professor: posts lecture notes written in felt tip pen, extremely hard to read, spends half the class trying to figure out his own example problems. You're going to have to teach yourself out of the book.

Worst teacher at ISU. He might know everything there is to know, but the way he explains it is horrible. I hate EE stuff, but in 442 I had a good teacher who was good at working out examples, not just putting up the same notes he has had for 5 years. By far my least favorite class ever.

Easily worst teacher I've ever had. Shows no interest in students, tests unfairly difficult. Very intelligent, yet can't convey even simple ideas. Class made easier because answer key to homework widely available and used as learning aid. Inflated grades. If his 442 class severely maimed my interest in EE, 448 finished it off. Unequivocally awful.

Boring, no enthusiasm, would have been harder if the whole class didn't have solutions to the homework. One page of notes for like 3 weeks of class and they look like they're written in pastels. Have fun with this guy.

Incredibly confusing. Can't answer q's. Didn't teach anything, put me to sleep, I left class every day in a state of depression. Labs pointless. Tests unfairly difficult given his horrific inability to teach. Kumar made appointments, broke them, then blamed student for not trying to get help. Did well despite Kumar, grades significantly inflated.

Not the best teacher, although I thought the class material was very easy. If you're taking the course, look at the old posts for homework and exam solutions, and remove the extra 'xxx' from the 'whatever.com/hw1.htmlxxx' on the address.

I think that Dr. Kumar may have changed his ways. I took EE 324 with him spring 05 and he was very good. If you did the homeworks, you would go good on tests. Still took the tests out of 20 points though, which is tough. A 20 point exam worth 20% of your grade, every point off on a test is 1% off of your overall.

This class seriously sucked. Did not follow a plan whatsoever. He put me to sleep in every class. In summary, he is the most unprofessional professor the ECPE department has ever got.
