Comment:

He has no idea how to teach the material and constantly makes mistakes on problems during lecture. I found it more challenging to learn by actually going to class. I ended up having to teach the material to myself on my own time.

Has no idea how to teach easy problems. It is a really simple class conceptually, but he manages to make it terribly hard to understand. Don't get me wrong, he means well and is a nice guy, but he can't teach. Not at all. Do yourself a favor and enroll in the online section. If it's not available, wait until it is, because this class is miserable

Comment:

De Mattas lectures were a bit dry and too long. I believe the course could have been much more enjoyable with a different professor lecturing. His exams were a little off putting from what he actually goes over. Be prepared to just read slides after slide. He also says "no" at least five times every sentence which made it hard for me to concentrate

Pretty easy exams. Just go to the discussions and you should be fine. Lectures are nice to catch up on facebook and play on your phones. Brutal 50 minutes to get through twice a week.

I didn't find lecture very helpful for this class, homework and discussion are important for this class. If you are able to do the hw, you should be ok for the math problems on the exam.

Horribly MBA professor. Way too much homework assigned for the value gained from doing it. Each test he gave was multiple choice, but don't you worry; Lots of questions never actually had a choice that was correct and he didn't seem to care.

Not a good professor for MBA classes. Extremely boring, unwilling or unable to discuss conceptual topics and stuck solely to math and formulas. He's probably fine for undergrad, albeit boring.

The lectures may not be that great but the lecture guide and problems done in class help for the exams. He is helpful outside of class as well as the TA's assisting him.

Considering his experience, he is not a good teacher at all. OM is an interesting subject because it can lower costs and increase efficiency but deMatta blows it up badly. His TA are lousy and teach using different methods (esp. w/ problems). There is no similarity between his lectures and exams. Doesn't curve and is so damn boring. AVOID HIM!

Class was very boring. He's a nice guy but not very interesting. Going to class is definitely unneccessary. You learn pretty much everything from the book. He's very helpful outside of class though.

Pretty hot for an old man. Quite the snoozefest. I am an avid class goer, but I probably went to this class <5 times. I still got a B. Studying for the tests, doing the project, and attending lecture all made me think about offing myself- It would have been better than learning this useless material. Engineering students might enjoy this crap.

I loved this class when I took it. It gave me a chance to catch up on my sleep. I taught myself the material by reading the book. He is boring as hell.

Comment:

Used to manage operations for a weapons manufacturer in the phillipines. Class is slow if you are anywhere above reasonably intelligent, but is fast paced if you can't tie your shoes. De Matta is the king of counter-intuitive thinking.
