In addition to the content, Dr. Rich imparts lessons about etiquette and social norms expected in the real world of business. As a working professional in MIS, I can tell you that attitude, manners, and enthusiasm are essential soft-skills in an IT career. Listen, learn, and practice what Dr. Rich offers, and you will gain a marketable edge.

Dr. Rich is very clear on what he grades. Make sure to fill out the participation cards as the weeks go by. The modules seem like a lot of work, but you do it with your group and becomes quite easy for the most part. Try and participate in class like raising your hand or asking questions. Interesting class if you like to learn concurrent tech.

This professor is an embodiment of why the value of higher education is eroding. You will not learn anything in this course. One's IQ may even be lowered by the vacuous lectures about positivity and laments against cell phone usage. Smiling in class is mandatory. Yes, mandatory! The poor quality of education provided is an insult to anyone.

This was the worst professor ever had. No real teaching. He spends the class time to talk about unrelated topics and easy to tell he is just trying to pass time. For group assignments; he doesn't even read them. Students stand in line to get their assignments checked and he stamps them without even looking at it. He has a very moody personality.

What this professor taught in a semester could have been taught in 3 lectures MAX from a different professor. 4 quizzes, modules you do with a group, and participation points make up your grade. The modules, he just looks at and stamps (if he's in a good mood). The other issue is that most students lie on participation points to get a decent grade

All Dr. Rich needs is attention. His 'lectures' are not actual lectures where you learn about the material. His class is a game; the objective of the game is to make Dr. Rich feel smart and interesting. If you're going to take him, get ready for holding a fake smile because he demands you to do so. To get an A in his class, be a yes-man.

The whole course revolves around assignments known as modules. These modules are a workload and if your group complete 27 modules then it will result in an A. Also weekly canvas questions are not to be taken lightly because they are weighted a lot even though they are worth 1 pt. Remember to participate as much as possible for pts so he wont b mad!

Great professor in terms of caring for and understanding of his students. There are no tests or quizzes in this class. He stresses participation and positivity in class, and he seems to get angry or upset when it doesn't happen which makes the class feel more negative than positive...

Dr Rich is an awesome professor. He always encourages students and tries to help them as best as he can. He gives tons of extra credit as long as you speak in the class or talk to him in the office hour. If you do the work, you're guaranteed to get an A from the class.

Awesome professor! He is very passionate about what he does and enjoys helping his students. Learning in an environment that is not stressful!! You get what you put in to this class. Pick a good group and participate in class as much as possible for P-cards. No midterms/final. My favorite professor at SJSU!!

I was worried about this class at first, but it was such an easy A. The class mainly consists of modules done by you and your group, so make sure to choose solid group members. No exams, at all. The modules were a bit lengthy but doable, especially if all your group members contributed equally. Highly recommended!

He's a decent professor to take when it comes to learning more about m.i.s. His class is simple, and it's not hard to get an A. Participation matters and try your best to participate a lot.

He's a genuinely nice guy. He tries to teach (younger) students to become professionals - some of them are totally clueless. However, a lot of students are not ready for him. You need to do two things to ace his class: participate in the class and complete the group projects in a timely manner. I've been to his office once, but I still got an A+.

Burkhard teaches this class based on business models and allows students to learn on their own in groups while using the tools necessary to succeed. As long as you are willing and happy to go to class, you pass.

I took him Fall 2014. He is number one of my favorite profs. Very nice. He is willing to teach well in class and cares about students. Don't miss class. He will give quizzes and extra credit cards. The test and group exercises are cakes. Easy graders that means bad sometimes. He smiled to me every time and will miss him so much. Thank you Rich!

Study the models and you will do well. Midterm and Final are open book, open laptop & open internet. The homeworks will be put into your final project, so do them well the first time. He definitely cares more for quantity v quality, so make sure to fluff up your final project. Get a lot of participation cards as well. Pop quizzes sometimes.

Dr. Burhard is a decent professor. He is very picky on what goes on in his class, he does not like anyone to talk or be late to class, which is his biggest pet peeve. His quizzes are very straight forward. He gives one Midterm and one Final. Overall if you do what he asks of you, you will have no problem passing the class.
