Comment:

Probably one of the hardest classes you will ever take if you're not a pre-med/biochem/micro bio student. You will have to put in WORK in his classes, skipping will pretty much fail you. I would recommend a laptop so you can write down every word he says, and you will learn to type at lightening speed. Tests are very hard. Study EVERYTHING!

Comment:

Very lecture heavy. Will test you on every single detail even when he says it will be broad. He will meet with you but suggests the best way to succeed is to memorize everything he talks about in lecture. Very passionate professor but difficult class and you will need to put in the work to pass.

Comment:

One of the better biology profs at U of R. He actually wants you to succeed and is willing to answer questions well. Notes were a bit hard to take, but a lot of material was covered so not his fault. Attendance is not optional, and midterms are not easy but with a lot of effort, you can succeed.

Comment:

Dr. Manzon is extremely knowledgeable, but his courses have a LOT of material. As an idea, 390 and 395 ended with 150 and 125 pages in Word, resp. Not too many applied questions, but be prepared to read textbook(s) and research topics to understand. Very personable and willing to meet for questions. Lots of work, but you'll actually learn.

Comment:

Manzon is willing to help and really does want us to succeed. In his lectures I was on my computer typing EVERY single word he said. His power points are visual aids and his notes are verbal. I rarely used the text as the text was less detailed than him. Be ready to memorize a lot. He tests you on the things he says and he talks REALLY fast.

He was OKAY. I don't know if it was the actual class or his teaching style but I found 288 hard. He was very nice and accessible outside of class so that was nice although he did ramble on sometimes.

He's absolutely terrible. One of the worst profs at the U of R. Ignore the people giving him praise, you will regret taking any class with him.

I understand the comments about him going off topic- but don't let that deter you. When he wanders off, it usually helps you understand the topic further - if not it is at least fascinating. He is a phenomenal prof and very knowledgeable in the courses the teaches. He is very easy to approach and marks fairly.

Manzon is a great prof. He is very interested in his topic and listens to what the students have to say. If you go to class and study the material you will do fine. Usually asks very specific questions on tests to test knowledge. He is always there to help and I thought I would never take a class from him after cell bio but he is a nice prof.

Great Prof. He is very personable. His tests are tough but fair. He expects knowledge of the material rather than memorization. Study hard and show up to lecture and you will do well in his class. There are 2 midterms and 2 assignments and 1 final. 5% of your grade is on participation and there are discussion periods every 2nd friday.

Great prof! He gets very excited about the course material and it transfers to the students in class. classes are always fun and very interesting. can be a little disorganized but you can easily approach him and get all the help needed to do good in the class. will highly recommend this prof!

Dr. Manzon is a great guy! Very helpful & really wants students to suceed. Can be disorganized and go fast at times but this only happens because he gets really excited about what he is teaching and therefore sometimes misses points. You'll learn a lot in his classes!

Comment:

He was well knowledged, I emjoyed his lectures. Sometimes got into the subject and went really fast and did not carify anything. If biology intersets you, I would recommend his class. You have to study a lot to do well, but you end up learing lots.
