Comment:

I think its hard to learn about Shakespeare and to read his plays, especially when its in old English. But this professor gives every student a grade for their work and for the effort they put on his exams. Theres a lot of leverage and help he gives, and I appreciate it because he really is caring and understands everyone.

He is a good professor but he ISN'T easy! This class has 5 tests& 1 final, each exam is 10% of your grade. He drops the lowest exam. I did not realize that there will a final exam because it wasn't mentioned in the syllabus. The final consisted of all the plays we read in short answers and an essay worth 20 points! He doesn't curve your grade.

Comment:

Professor McCoy is one of the best professors at QC. You have to do readings and take notes when he talks about them in class. It will help for future tests and papers. He's really into being specific in participation and in assignments. Overall, his class isn't a waste of time - you will get something out of it if you are prepared to learn.

When I first got into his class (Eng Drama to 1642) I thought it was so boring and just knew I wouldn't take him again. (Fall 2016) At the end of the semester I realized his class isn't hard at all. We read a lot of plays (you should read them). The test isn't too bad. He responds back through email super fast. McCoy is a great professor.

Professor McCoy and this Shakespeare classes are absolutely wonderful. His Shakespeare classes were among the best classes I've ever taken. As long as you are interested and put in the work you'll succeed. You can't expect to get an A if you don't work for it. If you

I took his Shakespeare class because I'm super interested in his work and I wanted to learn more. Well, McCoy basically summarizes the plays with absolutely zero analysis. You learn nothing about the plays or background history. Just a summary; it's boring. However, easy tests and papers. Tip: quotes in lectures are on the tests!

He is the most boring professor I have ever encountered. I definitely do not recommend taking this class early in the morning. YOU MUST BUY THE TEXTBOOK. Which is incredibly big and heavy. It's really hard to stay focused but not hard to pass.

Only take if you want to learn as he is exacting - but in a good way. You must do the reading and focus on topic when writing. Extremely insightful and will share his knowledge with you. Yes h teaches at Grad Ctr but doesn't have crazy expectations but will push you to do your best work. You earn your grade in this class. Enjoy!

Great Professor! Knowledgable, interesting and demanding. You must earn your grade so if you are looking for an easy A this is not the professor for you. DO the reading, WRITE clearly and SHARE your opinions in class. He teaches at the Grad Ctr so expect to be challenged and therefore grow academically in his class.

Oh my God! Save your sanity! I worked EXTREMELY hard in his course, I even passed all the exams, and just because he gave me a crappy grade on a paper, which I so did not deserve, he give me a C+?? Is this guy for real. If he wants to teach graduate level, he should GO to Harvard! DO NOT TAKE HIM, I REPEAT, DO NOT TAKE HIM!

What a great professor. He is easy to talk to outside the classroom. His tests weren't hard(just be simple) and his papers were easy to write. He is very knowledgeable in the readings, although some of them were quite boring. Other than that, take him if you're willing to work hard, if not, the lazy people should drop the course.
