This is the Costa Rica course. What an incredible experience! Every day is an adventure with Niesenbaum. Learned so much about sustianability and felt integrated into the Las Juntas community. Best experience in my undergraduate career

This is a great class and Niesenbaum is a wonderful professor. I learned so much about plants, and have become and avid gardener and plant collector as a result. Do not miss this class.

A very fun and entertaining professor, and his tests, while challenging, are fairly predictable if you read the little quiz sections at the end of the chapters. Also, he took his 180+ person class across campus just to hug the ginkgo tree, and showed off his fish lab!(He keeps his fish on the roof, by the way.)

His tests are extremely tricky even if you think you know the material 100%. He isn't very helpful outside of class because he wants you to think for yourself. The power points are very vague so make sure to read the book and take good lecture notes. Otherwise, he doesn't seem to care but that's because he's trying to weed half of us out.

His lectures and powerpoints were terrible, and he wasn't clear about what would be on the exams. I love bio but this class sucked. Read the textbook and try to take good notes.

Niesenbaum embodies biologists everywhere. He's goofy, halarious, a slacker, and very intelligent. His powerpoints are not very useful, so as long as you know everything in the textbook, you will be fine for the tests. I really enjoyed him and his class. He does get political but it was usually very appropriate and necessary.

He's a pretty good teacher. I was very prepared for his Bio I class, so it wasn't too hard for me. Just pay attention during class and learn the general concepts in the book. He can get political sometimes, and especially at the end of the semester, which I don't appreciate. However, he really does know his stuff, and when he doesn't he admits it.

He's okay, and he can be zany, which is fun. His tests are devilishly tricky, though, and I get the feeling he doesn't really care much about my class.

I didn't realize how great Niesenbaum was until I ended up taking a bio class with another professor. He makes class fun to sit through, and his enthusiasm really makes students want to learn the material. Plus, I always enjoyed the little tangents he would sometimes go off on. His test can be tough

Extremely hard class... his lectures were entertaining though. The tests were a ****. its weird he is nice in class but outside of class he has like no personality whatsoever. You have to get to know him more i guess but he always had a new joke for class that made me smile!
