He wants you to learn and enjoy doing it. If you have the chance to take him, do it. He is really funny and entertaining so it makes class not as bad. Grading for persuasion kinda sucks because it's heavy on tests and papers, but he gives you good feedback and chances to get your grade up. This guy is great.

He's interesting, and funny. Exams will be difficult if you don't study. He gives good feedback, and wants you to learn.

I've had professor Perloff for multiple classes. I really like how he teaches the material. He does like group work and participation in class so make sure you be involved. He genuinely cares about the students and is always willing to give feedback and go the extra mile to help students on assignments. His study guides are exactly what the test is

Shows videos to reinforce lectures, takes his time going over topics and helps make things clear. Tests are easier then what he makes it out to be but you NEED a green book. He does have you do a 5 page paper which requires you to interview someone but he pretty much gives you the entire semester to do it, just don't procrastinate.

Love Dr. Perloff.. he's a little eccentric and out there but his classes are enjoyable. He shows lots of video clips to better reinforce what he's lecturing about and it works. Tests are multiple choice with a free write section you need a Green Book for. If you come to class, do the study guide, and pay attention you'll do well.

Lots of handouts try to keep those organized because come test time just reading over those is typically enough to grasp the concepts on the tests. Go to class he gives participation points and the class is only out of 100 points so you don't want to lose out on 5 points (5%). I bought the book, but didn't really use it during the semester.

Dr. Perloff KNOWS his field of study. Great guy and a great professor. His tests and quizzes are tricky if you do not study for them. He takes attendance seriously and it is good to go to class anyways, he's funny! Gives great, critical feedback on papers and is encouraging.

Comment:
Professor Perloff is incredibly passionate about politics and is very knowledgeable. However he does seem to be a little unorganized at times. He shows lots of videos to reinforce concepts. The entire course is only out of 100 points total so every single point counts.

Comment:
Professor Perloff is fantastic! There are three exams that are quick and painless (usually two short answeressay questions and 30ish multiple choice) He gives a clear study guide before hand and everything on the test is provided by the power points so don't buy the textbook. He's pretty funny too, often had the whole class laughing.

I've had to deal with this individual several times. He is condescending, conceited, impatient, and can't be bothered with you if he feels you are beneath his level.

Perloff is quite the comedian, there were many times he had our class rolling on the floor. Pros: helpful, willing to meet to clarify things, gives study guide, you will always have a review day. Cons: sometimes you dont know where his rambles are going, no cell phones, he likes to go deep into topics. Overall, great class & fun to learn envrnmt.

Perloff is a great professor. He wrote his own book for goodness sakes! It's a shame that he has to step down as the Communications department after his eight year term limit is up in Spring 2011. The students at CSU will be missing out on a fantastic professor in the of Fall 2011 while he is on his semester sabbatical!

Nice guy! Sometimes can be flakey but funny at the same time. Just understand the concepts that are discussed in class and you should be fine. Don't plagerize from his book though, write it in your own words.

He is very strange and out of touch with students. Very full of himself and thinks he knows everything. Very flaky, always seems like he has too much going on.

I took Perloff for a general media class (the exact name escapes me). His classes were interested, informative and he used a variety of teaching methods. There is lecture, group work, viewing film or television, etc. Tests were easy as long as you read the materials. Also, I think he takes class participation into account so speak up!
