I'm coming back here to rate Rita Jacobs. I graduated a few years ago and have since gone on to become a marginally successful writer, but a professional writers nonetheless. She was the first college professor to inspire me. Take her. She's open minded. She's experienced. She's brilliant.

Prof. Jacobs identifies the brilliance that lies latent in you and really helps develop you as a writer while instilling self confidence and pulling you through individual milestones of growth. She has an open door office policy, and I find her demeanor and methodology to be ideal.

She is absolutely wonderful. She makes class interesting and provides excellent and clear feedback. Her lectures are very engaging. One of the best English professors I've experienced at MSU and one of the best professors I've experienced at college overall. Attend her classes, participate and give it 100% of your effort and she will help you.

She is awesome..class is very discussion based.READ THE NOVELS!!..she is a pleasant professor who knows her stuff!..fair grader and you have a choice between 1/2 papers.you have a midterm and final. TAKE HER! IT DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN HER!

Prof. Jacobs' class centers on class discussion, so be sure to read all of the texts. Personally, I love that she looks deep within the text for symbolism and hidden meaning. Why as an English major should you do otherwise? She's classy, intelligent, and sophisticated. Take her.

She loves to name drop; as if anyone cares. She's a very hard grader and I found myself floundering in a class that is within my major! I was lost because I was young compared to others in the class and her feedback on papers didn't help me at all. I wasn't one of her favorites and she didn't like me therefore I was screwed. She's hard!

Over-all a good professor. Her classes are discussion based, and she will make you talk. HOWEVER!!! Tread carefully, you make a remark, and she decides she doesn't like you anymore, your done. She has favorites and will TURN ON YOU!! Favors politics and money talk and judges you based on it. I would take her again, but I'd be wary.(Read the books!)

Very interesting class. Highly discussion based. Very interesting points of view discussed 3 small papers, and midterm/final paper, no tests. Enjoyed it very much. Fair grader, who knows what she is talking about, so do not try and bs her.

Professor Jacobs is supportive and encouraging. She is always available to meet after class or during her office hours to discuss possible paper topics or how a student can improve their work (and grade). Her classes are discussion based- she does not lecture. I have taken two classes with her and I would take another.

Professor Jacobs is one of the best teachers at MSU. If you are an english major or have a minor in journalism, you simply cannot graduate without taking at least one of her classes. She knows her stuff, has a lot of experience and is a and caring person. She is probably one of the few profs that actually cares about her students. Take her.

This is definitely one class I really enjoyed. I usually never participate in class discussions, but felt very comfortable joining them in this class. Jacobs is not only a pleasant teacher, she really knows her stuff and I think her grading is pretty fair.

She is ont of the best teacher's I've had. Explains everything very clearly and her assignments are reasonable and fair. As for work there is only a midterm, final and paper, and you regularly read plays. She is great, Take her! Wish we had more of her in the English Department!

Most of these reviews make her sound 80 and she's obviously not! Dr. Jacobs is extremely nice and a great professor. Anyone complaining probably hasn't read the books. Do the work and you'll get a good grade. I didn't think her grading was so harsh.
