A wonderfully gentle soul with a genuine interest in improving the quality of your writing. He provides honest and thoughtful criticism. His search for deep understanding of a text inspires you to continue to delve deeper into works. I have taken two classes at the master's and doctoral level with him and have been pleasantly surprised each time.

I took this class several years ago; my second with Carnevale. I found him to be encouraging yet honest, which for a writing professor is the most important thing. If you wrote junk, he'd tell you it wasn't very good. It was immensely refreshing. One of my top three professors at Drew (co '01)

Awful, booring teacher. Inspires nothing in the students, adds nothing to the readings, and could cause a severe AD/HD, turrets kid to fall sound asleep.
