Professor Gourley is a really nice guy. Assigns 3 or 4 Essays throughout the term. Usually they're just response questions found in your textbook. His Presentations are straightforward and pulls stuff straight from there straight to his quizzes. Easy grader on the essays. Overall a really good teacher and a great guy. Makes a lot of Jokes too.

This professor is extremely knowledgeable and passionate. Hes not super caring about his students but definitely enjoys involvement from them. 5 quizzes, 3 short papers, and everything revolves around lectures and lecture notes. Doesn't respond to emails but is glad to talk in person. Glad I took this class.

A very passionate history teacher that loves what he teaches. Pay attention in class, take good notes, create study groups, and you should be good to go. Essays and quizzes are tough but summaries are a breeze once you get the hang of them. Textbooks are really important! Overall a really great teacher but you do have to put in time and effort!

Loved his class. Keeps lectures interesting. If you take notes from his lectures and study you will pass exams with easy A's. Don't expect to pass if you don't study though, he gives written exams. Gives several papers, but practically spells out what you need to write. Lowest test and lowest paper scores get thrown out at end of semester.

I loved this class! I always thought of history as a difficult subject to understand but his class was very easy. His exams and quizzes are based off of lecture notes. He puts up points on a powerpoint and you take notes off of what he says. He's very smart. 5 papers, but you only have to do 4. Midterm & final & a couple quizzes. Highly Recommend!

Very nice teacher, pretends to be mean and intimidating at the beginning but is very nice and helpful. Lectures are interesting, he knows the material well. Be sure to take good notes. Always tells you what will generally be on tests and quizzes. He requires some essay but all easy As, just footnote correctly & your set! TAKE THIS CLASS!

Prof. Gourley is awesome. This man has a great passion for teaching history and he surely knows his stuff. Classes are taught with power point presentations (they only show pictures, maps and quotes: he explains everything himself, but makes it interesting and clear.) Prof. Gourley is really nice and helpful; take his class, you'll love it.

He is a brilliant man and a great teacher! He doesn't write a lot of notes on the board, but he has extreemly interesting power points. He always knows what he's talking about and he is explaining everything fully. He always answers every question that is being asked. His tests and quizes are OK if you study the notes that you take.
