This class requires a lot for work for each of the four cases. The best option, is to go to his office hours and go over your approach with him. He is very helpful with cases. You need to go to ever class and contribute quality class participation to get a good grade. No tests. Overall, pretty interesting but way too much work.

One of the more difficult classes in the program material wise, but Prof Johnston has put in a ton of work himself. Posts everything he has done online including helpful excel sheets to aid in case analysis. Very good Prof.

Comment:

Johnston is one of the nicest professors i've had. However, this class is a lot of work. It is four case studies that take about 10-15 hours each to put together with little direction. Class is heavy on excel and lecture is mostly pointless. Attendance is necessary as 20% of grade is based on participation. I didn't learn much from this class.

One of the best instructors I have had. The case assignments are very challenging, but he is constantly available for guidance. The course is what school is supposed to be about ... and Mr. Johnston is what professors are supposed to be about.

Comment:

Very good professor. Especcialy if you want to get aquainted with Excel. Gives a great overall view in the workd of finance. Especially seeing as people are moving towards the use of computers to problem-solve as opposed to financial calculators.
