THE WORSE professor that I have ever had. He only cares about the answers, he will give you 0 point for your step.I had a bad grade and I ask him for help. What I wanted is someing like "you can do better". However, he said nothing but the fact that I got a bad grade. He does not even care about my feeling. This class drags my 3.9 GPA to 3.6.

At UC Irvine, Professor Rangel is one of the professors that understands how to clearly explain the concepts he talks about. His online lectures provide an additional resource, aside from the book and attending lectures in person. His tests are difficult but he is a professor that cares about his students and wants to see them succeed.

This class was my favorite class this quarter. He really knows what he's talking about and has a lot of experience. Has answers to all of students' questions. Has a clear grading criteria. Quizzes once a week 8 weeks per quarter, but allows you to talk to neighbor. Review previous lectures before clicker quizzes. Good professor.

Found it difficult knowing what to study for on the exams because he's one to just say, "Do as many problems as you can," without really giving you any clues. Clicker questions and paper quizzes once a week and allows you to talk to your neighbors after a few minutes of trying it on your own. Totally passable class. Show up to class and discussions

Thermodynamics is hard, but Rangel provides a lot of resources. He has his online lectures that you can watch before class, and that really helped me after I didn't do well on the midterm. Tests are hard, but the curve is nice.

if you want learn and not have a hard time understanding the basics of the material, TAKE RANGEL. he is an excellent lecturer. TOUGH weekly quizzes and midterm plus final. I recommend to read and watch lecture videos before the week of lecture. Take notes of the video lecture and you will be prepared when he lectures to you.

The class is scary at first but the online lecture really helpful . Can do well and pass the class no problem , just do a lot of extra homework from the text book , the Tutoring session helps you reinforce the information and a great source to predict what is on the tests

Very knowledgeable and prepared professor. Thermo is hard, but he makes the tough concepts much easier to understand. Weekly quizzes and iClicker questions which are moderately difficult. You need to immerse yourself in the material, go to class, practice practice practice the book problems, and watch the online lectures.

The professor waa great but the subject itself was very hard. You really need to pay attention to the lecture in order to pass the class. Midterm and final were okay. There are only 3 questions each with one hard problem. He has online lectures and those are very helpful. He actually went over the same hard midterm question in one of the videos.

One of the hardest classes/professor I've ever taken, but also the most respected. He does a great job taking difficult concepts and breaking them down for students. Weekly paper quizzes as well as clickers. Both the midterm and final are brutal but fair. If you know the material you'll do fine if you know it conceptually you won't. sit in front!

Good lecturer, but bad professor. His exams are brutal and he over complicates things way too much. Thermodynamics/Fluids shouldn't be extremely hard. All he cares about is getting a nice curve on the midterm so he can boot people out of engineering. Worst thing is that he makes you watch OLD lecture videos online. Basically taking 8 units.

Rangel is a great professor. He explains concepts pretty clearly and will answer your questions. Iclicker and group paper quizzes once a week that weren't too difficult. Watch the online lectures beforehand, so you aren't too lost during the lecture. The midterm was fair, but the final was a lot tougher.

Two-hour long lectures, keep up! Fast paced class, great professor. To pass: watch the online lecture, skim the chapter, and do the homework before the class. This will make everything click much better, and the professor is excellent and will help if there is anything you are confused on. Don't be shy, he will make jokes about students.

This is probably the hardest professor I took. If you can avoid him, please do so. His lectures seem to be pretty clear, homework a little challenging, and quizzes so hard that he lets you do them in groups. Tests are difficult, but easier than the quizzes. Attendance is optional, so he gives extra credit since almost nobody comes.

Great Professor!! I was taking his lectures online through You Tube. Course is MAE 130A. He is exceptionally good and very clear and concise in his contents. Actually he made me understand the subject and fell in love with Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics. Five out of Five starts for this great teacher..! Thank you very much Professor.

Great instructor who lectures on the topics very well and even posts them up online! The homework and iClicker quizzes are no problem, but don't be fooled; the exams can range from being simple and straightforward to ridiculously difficult. Overall, one of the best professors in the MAE department I have had the privilege to meet.
