Dean Moore is the best professor I've ever had. He gives engaging lectures, assigns reasonable amounts of work, and grades fairly. His passion for English and history makes even the most dry subjects fascinating. He also truly cares about his students and their well-being. Do yourself a favor and take ANYTHING he teaches!

Comment:

Professor Moore is a great teacher and can make any subject interesting! The one drawback to his class was his very specific reading quizzes, but they are tolerable once you learn how to study for them (hint: memorize the footnotes!). I would definitely recommend taking a class with him.

I LOVE THIS MAN! I would take any course taught by him. At first I had minimal interest in poetry, but I became more interested as the course went on. He always engages his students in discussion with his charisma, humor and extensive knowledge on each poem and poet discussed. He is also very willing to help you with assignments. He is excellent!

Roger Moore is the best professor at Vanderbilt! He is everything you could ever want in a professor and more: understanding, entertaining, genuine, incredibly nice, interesting, and amazingly knowledgeable. I have also taken 208A with him and have worked with him for an independent study. Amazing.

Moore is wonderful. Don't leave Vanderbilt as an English major without taking a class from him. He is super interested and excited about what he teaches, and he is very understanding--he postponed a paper because of Rites weekend. Do the required work and you'll get a B.

Prof Moore is excellent. He has a ton of energy that makes his lectures fun and the reading interesting. He's also really fair with work and allowed paper rewrites in our class because he wants you to do well. He's willing to work with you outside of class. One of my favorite Vandy professors.

Extraordinarily talented lecturer. Engages you, encourages you, welcomes any and all comments. His grading is hard, but in a way that ensures you will put every ounce of energy and focus into your work to produce the best writing you have yet. Great for those both interested and not-so-interested in english. love that man!!!

Professor Moore is an awesome professor and is one of the best at Vandy. HOWEVER. His classes are incredibly difficult; he assigns lots of reading, there are many quizzes, and he generally has a nasty tendency to behave as though his is the only class you're taking. Don't take him unless you can handle a heavy workload. If you can, it's worth it.

You HAVE to take Moore! He is by far the most enthusiastic professor I have ever had and he makes every class interesting. Never looked at my watch once! Also, the tests and papers are not graded too hard. Love him!

incredibly energetic, your hand hurts after lecture from scribbling down what he says, but tests arent hard if you go 2 class, really helpful, funny. If he can make anglo-saxon literature entertaining at 10AM, you know hes awesome.

Great professor and makes poetry interesting. Not an easy class though. Tough quizes weekly, 4 papers and an exam. Unless you are an English major and like poetry it's not the best class to take just to fulfill a writing requirement.
