Ron is an amazing professor and I want to go back to school again just to take his courses. I left school in 2013 and I actually found this page because I was looking him up to see if he still practices. I believe my 5 yr old daughter is manic depressive.. he is the first person I looked up, if that gives you any clue how much I respect his opinion

Comment:

If you want to have decently-tough exams and have TWO 20-30 page (SINGLE-SPACED!!) projects.... take his class. Otherwise, I suggest you find a different professor, if available. Unfortunately, that is hard to do, which is why I am taking him next semester. Sitting in class is not useful as he rambles on, slowly. He is knowledgeable at least.

Comment:

Ron Sims is an amazing professor. It takes effort to complete his assignments, but they are usually interesting. Usually only 2 to 7 assignments and a final. All fairly easy. He really cares about his students and challenges them intellectually, without being harsh or condescending. He is also partial to those who ask questions and pays attention.

Ron rambles about everything except for the learning material. Sitting in class wasn't helpful for me, or anyone else in my class for that matter, but he gives points for attendance. His assignments take time but aren't that difficult. You DO need the textbook since you pretty much teach yourself the material.

I am astonished at the negative comments. Professor Sims is an amazing instructor. Not only does he give you a syllabus clearly explaining the assignments and when they're due, he actually sticks to his schedule, there's no surprises at the end. He's extremely knowledgeable and will help ANYONE if asked. Do the work...you will get the grade!!!

He is a wonderful professor; understanding, intelligent, open to student ideas, opinions, and interaction, and he will DEFINITELY assist ANY student who requests it! Your learning experience and results in the class will depend on your attitude and work ethic. He is not biased, he just expects your best, and does his best to help you achieve it.

You will learn from Sims classes. I prefer his classes because I enjoy a challenge. He has been extremely helpful and patient with me. Overall I would say he is an excellent teacher that does his job well.

Im a former grad from OUS and am finishing my Ph.D in clinical Psych. If you plan on going into grad school do not take Sims. His style of teaching does not prepare you well and he does not advise you or help you to undersand the application process.If OUS wants thier students to be competitive for grad programs, they need to get rid of him.

I cannot believe the negative comments here! Sims is a great professor! You will get what you put in to your studies. He helped me through stats, otherwise I would not have passed at all! He does not dislike women wither! Take his Sex and Gender Class! He's fair to everyone!

awesome course set-up... lots of class discussion so the responsiblity of class quality is on the student. sims will match the students' enthusiasm... so if you want to just sit there, the class will be dull, but if you wanna participate you'll really get a lot out of it. personal interest helps a lot!

Passing his classes are soo easy... you get in groups pick a chapter and read your 4 to 6 page outline to the class... or you can get videos or other aides to go over the chapter! You are graded on your group project, attendance, and final paper. Go to class do you chapter and your paper... get an A

Very monotone. Tends to ramble. Always seemed to be in too big of a hurry after class to talk to anyone. Almost arrogant. It is simply not fair that you allow 15 extra credit points to one person without allowing us all to do it as well. Goes to show that favoritism is alive and well.
