Professor Chen is a really nice guy but confuses the hell out of me when he trys to explain things. I went to his office hours and couldn't understand a single thing he said. I had to Withdraw from the class because it was hard especially for someone who isn't good at math like me.

If you aren't good with Math, avoid him at all costs, he will only confuse you. If you took Adv. Algebra in HS and own a calculator, then you can not show up to class or do hw and still end up with a B+.

i understand the course material, yet he still manages to confuse the hell out of me by the way he explains things (makes them seem so complicated when in all reality it's so simple/easy). if you don't understand math, AVOID HIM. i could probably teach math 101 better than he can.

Hated this class cause I hate math. This was a difficult class at first but managed to pull a C in the end. Is not clear at teaching concepts but go to tutoring and study the book. Tests are short about 5-6 questions. Doing hw and going to class helps. Willing to help if you approach him with probs. If weak on math, avoid taking him.

this class was a total bore. first of all he never graded or checked off homework so if your a bad test taker dont take this class because if you get one question wring on the test your screwed seeing there is only 5 ?'s per test. very unclear and cannot explain concepts. he answers questions with another question. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

He was by far the worst teacher I have ever had! If you need this class take anyone but his...he cannot explain anything, he is soooo bad at teaching...everyoone I know who has him hates him!

He may have an accent but it does not take away from his teaching. If you attend class and take the opportunity to use the study guide sheet on your tests you should have no problem getting an A+. Very nice teacher.

Hopefully the worst professor I will ever have to have at UMD. He can't speak English. He can't properly explain anything or anwser any questions. The class makes me want to try to choke myself with my calculator. Get a tutor if you have to take this class.

At first I believed it was his accent, but now I understand why many students struggle in his class. Do to the fact that his knowledge of the material is unclear it is difficult for him to teach it. He goes from one subject to another and back to the previous subject.

Learn how to speak English. Inability to speak clearly makes material very very difficult to understand. You have to teach yourself if you want to learn. Multi-task:fulfill both language and math requirement.

Good professor, has an accent but it isn't hard to understand. Fair grader, not too much hw and is very helpful by doing problems on board. Just go to class and ask questions and he's more than happy to help. Homework problems are similar to the test ones
