He is really such a good guy but you have to know what you are getting into before hand. He's from the UK and has extremely British humor. He cares about music and you have to be willing to learn if you want to get something out of it. Most of his classes are easy A's unless they are online, then your grade reflects the work you put in 10/10 for me

Prof Allen is knowledgeable about music, but his lectures could get boring. You will watch a lot of movies and listen to a lot of music on YouTube, so the class itself was pretty easy. My only complaint was that he never posted grades on canvas. Other than that, he's a nice guy. Take this class for an easy A.

Don't take for Music of the Beatles! He loves them way too much and gets so picky on your work. His grading is very tough and he barely gives feedback. If you email him and ask for feedback or questioning your grade, he probably won't answer. I took for an easy A and had to work to get just a B

If you're looking for an interesting class about music and theory, I recommend taking Professor Allen. He is so knowledgeable about his subject, is available beyond class to discuss, and offers extra credit. The class is easy if you're listening to his lectures.

I took History of Rock Part2 with Dr. Allen and I had a blast! He has a lot of anecdotes and he really knows what he's talking about. He's hilarious and energetic. Unfortunately, you have to beg for his attention and he doesn't let students participate in the class, which hurts the students/prof relationship... too bad. But overall, he's very good!

This man and this class was awesome, not only does he talk about the text book, don't buy it, but he also talks about current music happenings. Really loves the subject matter.

Took Dr. Allen for World Music and was happy to get him again for PopRock this fall. His class is extremely easy so I hope everyone respects the content since he treats you as adults. Highly recommend. Get ready to sit around and listen to crazy music and let him rant at the millennial crowd about what really matters. He's a cool Brit!

This professor is very funny, and tries to make everything fun. He has a british accent and is respected by many students. We usually watch videos of music and sometimes movies. We also talk a lot about the classical period, romantic period and the current period for music. He gives reviews before the midterm and final. There is no homework

Very interesting professor.. never a dull moment in his class. He did not require a textbook for his class, just required you to sign in. We watched several movies, listened to a lot of music, and only had 3 tests, and maybe 1 written assignment. Good teacher to take!

Love his accent, if i got bored I just listened to him talk and it was entertaining. I got a B in the class, allows alot of extra credit, watched alot of youtube. I dont like that time period of music he chose but it was easy so I guess that made up for it! Oh and dont sit in the front near the end of the rows in the science 101 cause he spits alot
