Dr. Marvel is a terrible person and professor. If you are unattractive I would not take the class. He touches his students in the creepiest way, and makes drug references. THe class is simple, again, if you are attractive. He knows nothing about Biology, he is unclear, and ridiculous. You do pointless tasks. No book-only plus.

All the horrible comments on this website are completely TRUE. Unapproachable creep, does not care about his students, only gives good grades to well-endowed girls, and other people he likes (which is not very many). Unfortunately this class is mandatory for Biology majors so sit in the back and do your plant collection early.

I feel Dr. Marvel is misunderstood. He is actually really helpful and caring about his students, but only if you try. He has little patience for people who don't work for their grade.

He's not that bad a professor. He makes you work for your grade and he wants you to do well. If you know how to study, you will do fine. This is probably one of the easier Biology Classes at Lock Haven. He is kind of unapproachable, but that does not make his class impossible...oh...and start your plant collection early.

The worst professor in the history of all professors. Do not take him. You are better off taking a regular bio with a lab. He is a horrible person and does not care about his students and it is evident in the classroom. LHU needs to get rid of him! He is an embarassment!

He is the worst professor I have ever had in my entire life. It's not about the tests it's about him as a person and how he makes others feel. He does not have anything planned he just goes with how he is feeling for the day..he assigns work and then never even grades it. He has rude comments and even if your answer is correct to him ur wrong..

This is the bio for el ed majors. He is not clear at all on what he wants and bases your grade off tests on the notes that he flys over in one day. The rest of the class is lab but they are hardly worth anything. I have heard the class isn't much better than Basic Bio though:(

Great professor! Always willing to help. Always in his office even outside of posted hours. Tests are a little tricky, but pay attention and study hard and you'll be fine. Anything you hear about him being a chauvinistic pig is unrealistic and probably the excuses made by people who don’t try.

Dr. Marvel does not seem to care for all of his students. He has favorites and only talks to them. The rest of the class struggles on as he explains things to the good-looking girls in the class. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS MAN!!!! Run hard and fast!!!

yea this guy is not a very good teacher. its a gen ed class and he acts like your working for your masters degree. quiz every class period. tests are hard and long. tests are 75 questions and than he gives you a little quiz right after the test from info on the lab all in 50 minutes. its a ittle bit rediculous. DONT TAKE THIS GUY. his notes are bad

Don't be late for his class!! He's a really nice guy if you talk with him and ask him for help, otherwise he probably won't realize you exist. He's VERY helpful in explaining things to you, and really helps you with labs.

Comment:

Plant project takes a large amount of time. People do not do well on random weekly quizes. There are 2 tests, midterm and final, so each covers a great deal of material. Sometimes goes off into interesting stories. Overall, a good teacher but you must be willing to put the time in to get a good grade.
