He teaches us as if it was a 300 level instead of an intro course and the questions on the tests were so poorly worded and confusing you had to read them 4 times and even then you wouldn't know what was being asked. I was taking a Forensic Psych class with it and going over the smae material and still I was lost on the test. Won't know your name.

if you like stories and ridiculously hard tests this is the class for you! he cannot tell the difference between a 600 level class and an intro class. his tests destroy everyone and crush your hopes and dreams...he told us he expects us to fail..WTF! and he tells lots of stories, too many for sure

He talks about nothing the whole time. Then reads from the book for a little bit and thinks that is enough to teach us. The tests are ridiculous some of the stuff he never even mentioned! I hate this class so much. I dread it ever time I have to go!!!

At first all you can focus on is the hour and fifteen minutes of lecture and trying not to fall asleep, after a while if you sit and listen to his stories the class becomes interesting and fun...ABSOLUTELY no homework, 3 tiny quizzes at the end of the year, and tests are easy..definately take this class

Poland is a very interesting guy, believe me he has a lot of stories to tell you, mainly about Prisons, Montana, or Prisons in Montana. Study the chapters and read your book, that is where the tests come from. He looks kind of like Kurt Russel with white hair, but he is definatly a great guy and i would suggest this class, along with the JLC.

Does a decent job of presenting materials to students. He'll use the whole class time even if he doesnt have alot to say. Basically two chances to earn your grade. One paper and a final exam being a blue book essay. You have no idea of the topic. Attendance counts, dont show up to class and he'll count it against your grade. Overall not a bad class

GREAT teacher! Awesome stories and real-life examples of what you're learning. Really tries to makes you question yourself about morals. Yeah, doesn't cover everything on the quizzes in his lectures, but tells you ahead of time what to read. GREAT guy. friendly, great speaker. JLC was pretty cool.

He is boring, i slept the entire time. He looks like Colonel Sanders. Talks about his past experiences in corrections to much. If you are in his seminar group, ask him his opinion. He will talk the rest of the time.

He's horrible teacher. I do not recommend taking him or the "JLC." You will learn nothing. Because of the JLC with Poland, I changed my major! His lectures had nothing to do with the book. His tests are easy. He is easily taken off track by dumb questions. He likes to talk alot about corrections.

You do have to read the text for yourself, but he's good about going over it and pointing out some of the author's fallacies. The guy has been in the actual field of criminal justice and corrections for years. He knows what he's talking about. The stories are funny and he looks like Colonel Sanders!

Ok he talks a lot, however, all you have to do is write a paper. For the Final, you write about one of the chapters that he chose from your book. Remember, when your a cop, all you'll be doing is writing reports from dull boring civilians.
