Lectures were long, but very relevant and entertaining. He was very helpful and easy to understand. He is very passionate about teaching and does it well. Study different types of literature as well as movies that go with them. One of the best professors I have had in a while.

A great instructor, you can tell that he loves teaching and literature. Eng Lit is absolutely not my cup of tea but I am grateful that I ended up taking the course; especially with him. you'll be doing a fair amount of writing but its very manageable ; if you have q's email him and he'll respond quickly. I would 100% recommend taking a course w/him

Slemenda is great instructor that is fair and most importantly helpful. I directly credit this class for my continued success in writing papers. The textbook is awesome and cheap(I actually kept it for reference), and the novel we read "My Abandonment" was absolutely amazing(I kept it also, I have read it 3 times).

Really really good teacher! Just be sure to attend every class, pay attention, and ask questions. You can totally tell he loves his job and genuinely cares about his students. I HIGHLY suggest to do whatever it takes to get into his class!

Steven is a good teacher. His class can be boring at times but he tries to engage everyone in class at some point in time. He is suddenly rude at times (pissy) and if he doesn't care for you he will let you know by making short rude comments at you, but because he's the teacher you cant respond and if you do it will reflect in your grade for sure.

Film arts was a super easy class I watched films I never would have watched on my own, and am so glad I took this class (even thoughI needed the credit) Easy A, but you have to show up to class. **DO NOT buy the book if you can avoid it. Mine was still in the plastic and I didn't get the refund back for the book, just take notes and you'll ace it!

Slemenda's a good teacher. Film as Art was a fun class, and I really learned a lot from it. For what it's worth, the class was fairly easy, even if there was a good amount of homework (The weekly response papers take an hour or two, and there are a couple of 3-4 hour long take home tests as well.)

I took this class and had to drop it for missing the screenings to often - however overall this class was ok . . Your mainly going to watch a lot of OLD movies so if your thinking that current stuff will show it won't . . . Citizen Kane sucked and he'll let you know why you suck for not liking it.
