Comment:

Learned a lot this term coz. I like that she cares - was flexible w/ assignments & due dates, giving us more time whenever we needed it. I had 3 more classes, so that REALLY helped me keep up. She gave me lot of help with my writing. You do have to come prepared to class, ready to participate. And stay off your phone/headphone in class.

She is a really really bad professor. The beginning of the class was completely full but by the end there were only a handful of us. If you speak up at all she will go off on you and be extremely rude. I kept quiet the entire class and she would still pick on me. If anyone disagrees with her she will start yelling. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS

She is an awful professor. She is late and very disorganized. She is confusing in her instructions and unclear in lectures. She has yelled at students, when the class is a discussion and research-based class. She believes that her opinion is the only one that matters. By far she is the worst professor I have ever had. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.

I will admit this was a hard class. Although, it taught me a lot of beneficial writing skills that I didn't learn in the previous writing classes. The secret is, if you stick with this class it will turn out for the students favor eventually; even though I understand it's substantial difficulty, this teacher knows much skills and research tips.

Comment:

Being in her class is like being blasted back to 2005. She doesn't listen to other opinions, even though she prides her class on being a "discussion heavy class". Will get angry and literally go off on anyone who respectfully disagrees with her. Constant busy work. Never explains assignments. For the love of all that is holy do not take this class.

It was a real bummer that I finally had to drop this class, because I actually liked the Prof. Her honesty was refreshing and her humor was awesome. She was very well prepared - I learned something new every day. She knows a lot about research tricks and finding good sources and about all the topics -great research guide!

Very engrossing class. It was honestly one of the most engaging academic experiences I've had ever. I've rarely seen professors put that level of thought into what they teach. Students who came prepared to learn though, cannot do well coz you have to have the right attitude. She helped me a lot even outside class.

You will be piled with frustrating, poorly assembled busy work that is often on top of assigned book readings. Not only is Lutz unclear her instructions, but she is also infuriatingly condescending towards students who ask for clarity/help. She is the first truly bad professor I've had. I could say so much more but the character limit wont let me

If you need a writing 2 credit I would not take this class. She is constantly late and is very disorganized. She always forgets to collect assignments and forgets the due dates that she assigned herself. She obviously created her own curriculum which is why it is horrible. Save yourself the trouble and don't.

Her directions are very unclear and she talks down to everyone a lot. She comes in late every day and then rants about unrelated topics the whole class. I would recommend you do not take her if you care about your grade.

She is terrible. Do not take her. She has no idea how to be a professor. Some people say that she is a good person though not a good professor, I disagree. She is an awful person and you will want to drop her class in the first week. Do not take her. She gives very unclear directions and is horrible at scheduling. She does not even use canvas.

She is quite a handful, many stressful days in class, which would almost always be confusing or off topic. The motives are there but the ability to complete and understand what she is trying to say leaves students frustrated and upset. She is very blunt so just look around before you choose her. Research skills improved but writing skills did not.

My favorite writing teacher so far. Loved how much trouble she takes to explain everything and the Samples she provides. When I was really stuck with a paper and it was due, she helped me via email even though it was after midnight.

Loved her class as she always made me think. Very informed about all the different research topics so she gave very good guidance for research project, whenever we got stuck. Frankly Mrs. Lutz is the first teacher who finally taught me how to read critically and to write college papers!

Prof. Lutz was a solid teacher. After taking many college courses at UCI, UCSD, & IVC, I was impressed by how much she cares about actual learning of her students... I mean, she doesn't just show up deliver pre written lectures, but engages students in discussions so that we got to reinforce what we were learning. I got a lot from her course.

As the class went on I started to get more and more confused as to why I was falling behind in class and it hit me, there is ZERO structure. We didn't complete many things from the rubric, she constantly would go off topic, she was frequently late to class and undermined my own writing ability which I was confident in prior to this class.

Confusing beyond belief. Never clear on what she wants. Terrible teacher, terrible person. She makes students feel stupid and she is just a bully. A friend of mine was in my class, and had to take a month off from school, and Lutz shared the reason why with the entire class, even though it was very personal info. I withdrew eventually as did others

The main reason on why I dropped her class was her attitude. Whenever I needed her help on a assignment she will always blame it on me and/or give me sass about it. From the last time that I checked I believe that the professors are here to help and not blame you for wanting help. Also a lot of busy work on school days and HOLIDAYS?

First day of class she states "no busy work" but i swear all she assigns is busy work. She makes you read countless useless articles and write useless ish in your journal. Nobody that believes in "no busy work" ever assigns this much stupid work. She will call on you every day if u sit there and just look at her instead of talk nice lady
