So far, the worst teacher I've ever had. I entered the class in my first year with high hopes, since I love mythology, but she absolutely ruined it for me. She was incredibly unclear, inconsistent, and rarely showed up to class, relying on other professors to come in for her. Understandable due to health issues, but she still took attendance.

If you earn you A here, the rest of your papers for the next 4 years will be easy. Class is demanding but worth every minute. If you want help, go during office hours. She WILL help you as much as you need. Go to academic assistance in the library and your grade will improve. She grades on the quality of your argument, not conflicts of belief.

She is very inconsistent as a teacher. Her syllabus, says one thing, but she completely improvises classes on the spot.

I really enjoyed having Mythology with her. She was pretty funny at times. The quizzes were really easy if you did the reading. Don't miss classes because the quizzes do count in grading. Also she was very helpful when I wanted to go over my paper with her. I took her class my first semester as a First-year and ended up with an A-.

I think that she knows what she is talking about. Although I haven't heard her say enough on any of the course material to really be a judge of that. She lets students direct conversation into a horrible corner, and will never rein them in. I found that class periods were useless. The only saving grace for this class were the awesome texts.

This professor, and this class, rocks. But don't let the reading slip -- the reading quizzes and tests really test your reading. Keep up and you will have a great, and really enlightening, experience.

Do not enter one of her classes thinking that you will just skim the books and receive a grade that is pleasing. Dr. Nelson expects you to be working at a college level and plans her readings and assignments around that assumption. Slackers will not survive this class.

She is the worst professor I have ever had. Florescent lighting gives her migraines. If you like to actually be able to see what your professor is writing on the board, or be able to read what you're writing, She is not the prof. for you!

Difficult prof, but my writing, which I already felt was pretty solid, increased in quality tenfold after taking her class. I worked more for that grade than in any class since.

If you want an easy A don't take Allard-Nelson. If you want a rewarding class that will push you (hard) to work to the very best of your ability, she's the best prof on campus. She (often harshly) demands excelence, but after her you're ready for anything.

Dr. Nelson is a challenging prof, to say the least, but the fact that she doesn't let ANY unsupported opinions or unresearched claims slide is one of my favorite things about her classes. She doesn't grade you down if you don't share her opinion - she grades you down if you can't adequately support your own.

I really enjoy philosophy but after taking a class with Nelson I fear I may be turned off for life. She rambles incoherently about nonsensical viewpoints, degrades you when your position differs from hers and skips merrily from topic to topic with no regard to content structure or flow. She grades on things she doesn't expect you to know & sucks.

Although I have not had female Nelson for a class, all of my friends have, and according to them she is a wonderful teacher. She is also a very nice person, though a little bit hard to approach at first.

I also had her for WRIT 101. Susan is actually a very good professor, you just have to get to know her. She's indimidating at first, but she's become one of my favorite professors.
