She's extremely rude and mean. I also hate the way her class is set up because she's never clear on what she wants and grades very strict. I've never had a C on my transcript in my life until I took her, and I put in an A+ effort. 18 of 37 students got an F. Avoid if you can

Im taking her Spanish class at WCC & really like her. In response to the people who've commented she talks to us like little kids- it's her sense of humor. She's random and sarcastic and you have to get that. She spends a lot of time trying to make class fun but still teach you something. She really cares and will help you if needed. Great teacher.

Comment:

She is rude, repeats herself consistently, gets side tracked very easily, not always helpful, is late to class (between 5-15 min) though she doesn't like you to be late. She is very strict to the attendance rules of the school. Homework online takes a long time to do but it's actually helpful. The use of the textbook in class is consistent.

Mrs. Iwata knows her Spanish but in my opinion doesn't teach it well when I took her class more than half of the class either dropped or failed and the average grade in there was a C. She has an awkward sense of humor and handles students like preschoolers. I wouldn't recommend her, but if you need the class it's passable..

I did not speak Spanish before taking her classes and I do not speak fluent Spanish now, but I do understand the language better and the culture. Overall this is a great teacher and she will help you to get through this course. Go to class, pay attention and you will pass.

Ms. Iwata Is SUPER Easy And She Makes The Class Really Fun. The Class Is Very Basic Learning Though So If You Already Know Spanish A Little It Can Be The Easiest A You Ever Get. There Is Quite A Bit Of HW But It's Only Due Once A Week & Is Really Easy. She Makes Learning Spanish Fun By Playing Games & Activities Almost Every Class. Loved Her.

I love Senora Iwata. I took her for Span 401 then 402.Ive never been good at languages but I really enjoyed her class...she makes learning spanish fun by playing spanish games in class.I wouldnt suggest this class if your not serious about it but if you are you will really enjoy this class. Her final is really easy.Im going to miss her class alot.

I took this class because I really am interested in learning Spanish. Unfortunately, this Prof. is not acceptable. I have no idea how she still has a job. In 3 weeks I learned nothing. I already speak 3 other languages, so learning is not a problem for me. This Prof., however is the worst I have ever had.

She is honestly a good teacher. she is very good at keeping the class entertained and active throughout the entire class period. she can be really sarcastic at times, almost to where it is annoying. She is kind of strict at times. but other than that shes a good teather. you really do learn in the class.

SHE IS AMAZING! HER LECTURES ARE CLEAR. SHE IS FUN! SHE TAKES ROLL EVERYDAY AND IS VERY STRICT ABOUT ATTENDANCE! THERE ARE 5 TESTS AND SHE DROPS THE LOWEST SCORE. HOMEWORK ASSIGNED FOR EACH CHAPTER... BUT PRETTY MUCH A GREAT CLASS!

In the beginning she comes off as a tough teacher but she really isn't. Go to class do the homework and talk with the teacher and you will pass. The speeches are cake, the test were hard, but I suck at Spanish. I think if you try and put forth effort you will pass.

Be prepared-she comes on very strong the first few days of class, but it is all for show. It works because the people who probably aren't that serious about the class clear out. After that, the class was fun to go to and I learned a lot. She insists on class participation and that really helps you to learn the material. I would take her again.

Just because someone can't understand her games doesn't mean she's a bad teacher, it just means she has some loser students who don't appreciate how hard she works to make the class interesting. And if the "native speakers" know so much Spanish why are they in a first-year class? This is a great class, but freaks need not apply.

I have never had a teacher as bad as Susan Iwata. That is not an exaggeration. She does very little work out of the book, very little letting the students speak spanish, but lots of worthless games and talking about irrelevant stuff. Rude, not helpful, and barely knows how to speak spanish (according to the native speakers in class). DON'T TAKE.

In order to pass her class, you should do the homework and read the textbook. She is always willing to answer questions. I would not say that you are stupid if you don't pass her class. Maybe, Spanish is not your subject and that is quite alright. She talks a lot about herself and family. Overall, she makes Spanish fun.
