Comment:

Honestly, she was not very easily accessible outside of class and she was very rude. She's inconsiderate of outside influences and personal issues. I was truly disappointed and she made me weary of ever taking a music class at New Paltz ever again. She grades really hard, especially for a beginner PIANO class. She acts like she teaches physics.

Comment:

Sylvia is the best! Never played piano before and took basic with her and I loved it. The book we use is great as long as you practice between every class and actually show up to class, she rewards the effort you put in. Occasional quizzes but date and content announced far in advance! Take basic piano with her but be willing to put effort in!

This class is great! She grades you on your individual progress. I knew a little about playing before but I've learned so much from this class. She'll help you if you need it but she expects you to practice a lot.

What a great teacher. I had absolutely no knowledge about pianos, and I was playing some interesting tunes by the end of the year.
