I really enjoyed the class. Prof had a decent sense of humor and was able to express inspirational ideas and thoughts and made me want to write and read. There were a lot of papers to write but it felt manageable. prof was very encouraging and gave great feedback on papers.

Comment:

Ms. Purvis is not for everyone, but I adored her. She has a very dry sense of humor that might take a bit to warm up to. She wants her students to do well, but holds a belief that they are in charge of their own education. She's not going to hold your hand, but she won't let you drown either. She's willing to help, but you have to do the work.

If you do not have the book you will not succeed. She is very monotone but is very funny. She has a dry humor and is very sarcastic. She will, and I repeat will pick your paper apart. She is a very tough grader, so make sure you proof read your paper at least three times.

She didn't care to hear your opinion unless it was the same as hers. She told me on multiple papers that my papers were good, then the grade I received did not reflect that. She was very rude and told us to stop "obsessing" over our grades, because they don't matter.

She has a very dry sense of humor. There were only 5-6 people who attended regularly after the first few classes. They showed little interest in the assigned reading. Said readings were somewhat obscure at times. Quizzes were given online (at home), and the due date of the first quiz was unclear. It was changed multiple times.

Ms. Purvis is a really nice person. She is nice and funny. Her class can be pretty boring sometimes, but overall it was fine. There are four papers you have to write, a handful of quizzes, and a whole lot of reading. As long as you can write a decent paper and stay awake, you should be fine.

She is not very communicative when it comes to telling you what is due and when. For an english class (NOT a writing class) there is a ton of writing. The whole grade is based on essays. Lectures are DRY and DULL. She basically just reads from the book the whole time. No incentive to actually go to class. Should've taken it online!

Comment:

Teresa is a great professor. Although her classes can be a little on the dry side, she tries to make it interesting. She has some wonderful insights on pieces of literature and is willing to hear another side, as long as you have evidence from the work to back up your views. I would definitely take a class from her again.

I have a love/hate opinion about this professor. She is a little unprofessional about grades, and essays. I didn't get a 1/4 of my papers back till the last day of class. At times she can be funny, and not so serious. Then at others times she's boring and babbles too much. She also does not post her grades on d2l, you just get your final grade.

Comment:

She is demeaning, belittling. She plays games asking you want you thing only to tear you apart and show everyone how smart she is and how stupid you are. Most all in the class hate it and complain before she gets to class. Do not take her. Children literature should be fun. Not a. Battle to stay awake, and afraid to state your opinion.

As another reader said, the class is an expensive book circle. She is a dry uncaring professor. She does not care about you or your opinion. Horrible horrible instructor. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Children's literature should be fun. She makes it a drag.

BORING!!!! She keeps you in class till the very last min, never lets us out early not even 2 mins early! talks and talks about nothing, easy class if you read, and write 1 paper. You also have to agree with her opinions!!!

Very boring and monotone!!! All the caffeine in the world couldn't keep me awake! Plus she doesn't like when anyone disagrees with her opinions, shes always right! easy class but it takes alot of effort to sit through her class!

Unless you are well read, you probably won't get her sense of humor. She is very dry, and many complain she is boring. Do the reading and participate in discussions to stay awake. It's an easy class. And ask questions if you have them. She'll answer them and is quite lenient when you communicate with her.

She was a boring teacher, the class was dull, and when it came to grading papers she was hard so watch out. Plus she doesnt like students who has different ideas then her. I wouldnt not this professor ever again. She really needs to retire.
