Honestly, this is one of the hardest classes I have taken at Winthrop. I think that this course is useful, but he requires way too much work. The tests are close to impossible to pass and no matter how hard I tried, nothing was ever good enough. I worked very hard and have not managed to not make anything about a C in the class! I work hard too.

I've part of the CoE for 2 yrs now, & this is the 1st class that's taught me anything I think will actually help me in my own classroom. Dr. N. knows *everything* - he must read constantly. Interesting stories, great teaching aids, great prof! Hard, hard tests, but over all a great teacher and a good class. He def. practices what he preaches.

He has always had a positive, helpful, and friendly attitude. He treats you how you treat him. His course teaches you a LOT about what books are out there for u to use in your classes. He loves to try to make jokes and attempts to stay at our level to keep class fun/interesting. I would love to take him again, even though his tests are rather hard.

TOUGH class. Doesn't really make sense that you can use a notecard for tests, b/c how does learning how to read a size 6 font prepare you for teaching?? Intimidating.

Very well-versed on Children's Lit, but it's supposed to be a methods course, not him reading us a list of books. Outside readings were helpul and reasonable, but he needs to fix his attitude problem, and stop making snide comments in class.

THis was the worst class of my college career. He enjoys making his students suffer. I'll never forget the note cards with 5 point font.

GREAT CLASS!! Not the easiest (it's a lot of work), but if you do it, you'll be fine. I thought Dr. Norton was hilarious, but he has a rather dry sense of humor. Very knowledgable of children's lit.
