I really loved this film class! We got to see some great films, and great discussion afterwards. Tom is great at explaining what goes into the film's story and any controversies which made it really interesting. I definitely recommend Tom's class on film!

Comment:

If you're looking for an easy A, this is your class. Just show up, pay attention, and maybe take notes. It is 100% lecture. No homework. One paper - super easy. Gotta watch two plays - around 20$ each. He'll call you out for talking with friends or being on your phone. Don't do that.

I'm so much more confident after my two acting classes with Tom, and can't wait to work with him in one of his awesome productions - hopefully next season! Tom is fun, encouraging, and pushes you to do your best! Take his class, you will love it! No textbook required. Very fair grader! Most of all, a super fun, confidence building class!

Comment:

Tom Amen is one of GWC's best teachers. He is understanding and gives the feedback that is necessary when trying to become an actor. The beginning acting class is a great place to meet unique students. It's an easy a yet he gives you the room to always improve yourself. He's a good director too. His shows are fun to be in or to watch.

I loved this class! Film storytelling at its best. This was my first time taking a class in cinema and wasn't sure what to expect. Was more about the message of classic films (all genres) than technicality of film making. Was fun anticipating each week's film selection. Tom was really cool and passionate about the course, made me more interested.

A fun class. If you attend his review sessions before the midterm and final, you'll be fine. There is a paper but he grades fairly on that too. Overall a really fun class to attend. Need textbook for the first few lectures. He takes attendance so make sure you show up.

I really enjoyed this acting class and thought Tom did a great job - patient and understanding that I was new to acting. I would recommend any first time actor to this class and especially to Tom as an instructor.

I was not looking forward to taking this class, but Tom made it very fun. His lectures were long sometimes, but he made them interesting by giving examples that students are able to connect to. 1 midterm, 1 short easy write up on a play, and 1 final. He gives you the answers to the midterm and final. Mandatory have to see 2 plays. Very easy A.

Tom in his theater 100 class is very laid back. One midterm and a final. It is mandatory you go see one of the plays that semester, preferably the one he directed. You just have to make a review on it. Easy A. His acting class on the other hand. As long as you show up and memorize your lines your going to get an A.

Great take-away value for life. Greek Roman theater names was death by a thousand cuts to remember but I squeaked by... thanks to flash cards and a few awesome classmates to text in the wee hours of cramming :)

Tom Amen looks intimidating, although he is nice and easy. There are frequent videos to watch in class. Class consists of midterm, final, 2 plays, response paper, and 1 extra credit play. On review days, he gives test questions word for word so there is no possibility to fail his class unless you do not show up to review. Overall, enjoyable class!

Super Duper easy. Class is somewhat mandatory the FIRST 2 weeks then you can skip all the classes and still get an A. Just show up on test review days and of course test days. Thats it! Thats exactly what I did..and I got an A! He is a cool teacher but theatre can get boring so I skipped. Tests consist of 75 questions but they are EASY!Review helps
