UGH. Hardest class. He talks way too fast and doesn't give any kind of clarification on why grammar rules are there. No visual aid to help you out (his handwriting is chicken scratch so good luck taking notes from the board) and this was his last semester so he just DID NOT CARE. Would not recommend.

He's a good teacher but I wish he was a little slower when he spoke. He rambles on and on and it gets hard to follow him at times.

Monsieur Frisk was very helpful in this class. His teaching style was great, when learning a foreign language, I believe that it's necessary to be independent, and he allows his students to self-teach. I valued his teaching style, because it involved a lot of self-teaching, and I think that this is Monsieur Frisks goal in his classes.

He is really funny and jokes around a lot, he's never really in a bad mood. I enjoyed him but I learned everything on my own from the text book and tutoring. He's not very clear and honestly doesn't really know how to teach. He's good at class participation though, you speak a lot of French back and forth with him.

He's openly hostile, calls students names during class, and tries to cover TOO MUCH TOO FAST. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!

Not as hard as everyone thinks. Every test he makes has about half of the questions from the previous test on it. It's very cumulative and you really start to understand after awhile.

I thought I would be a trooper and take this class, despite the god-awful reviews on this website. Even for students who have taken French previously, Prof. Frisk's requirements are absurd. Don't risk ruining your GPA or getting a withdrawal on your record. And don't dare waste your time with him because he won't bother to spend a second on you!

Comment:
Do NOT take. He always is going off on random tangents on his worldly travels and does the most useless activities in the book. The tests are way too hard for an Elem Span II class. He makes you feel stupid when you can't answer his questions. The class started with over 25 students and ended up with 5. That speaks for itself that the class is too

I've NEVER taken a language before, and I chose to take college-level Spanish. BIG mistake. Professor Frisk speeds through the material. It's so difficult when you don't know what you're doing. Frisk is impatient (he's quadrilingual) and not always helpful. I expect if one studies a lot, they could earn decent grades. Not me! Take it pass/fail.

would not recommend him! not clear at all and flirts with girls...and hes like literally 80 years old and looks like a little gray mouse. grades a lot on having the right accents on written tests, but doesnt emphasize them in class. the only good thing is that he constantly goes on tangents about china, france, and africa. aviod him if possible!

I would not take him if you have not had Spanish before or do not remember much. He goes through materials very quickly. When he asks questions in class he wants you to answer them fast and sometimes makes you feel stupid. Also if you get questions right out loud, get ready because he will call on you all the time!

He's a nice enough guy, when you talk to him outside of class. In class he could be sort of annoying. He asks questions in French and instead of giving you the chance to answer them he answers for you. It can be awkward when he talks about whether you're dating someone, etc. It's interesting when he tells stories about visiting France though.
