I absolutely love Dr. Rathburn. He made the class interesting, he does do some corny little jokes to help lighten the material. I would recommend recording the lectures. DO NOT MISS CLASS! He is rather difficult but he does not try to pull one over. He wants his students to engage in the class!

Whole class is just him giving vigorous lectures. No homework no assignments only two grades: midterm and final. Tests are very tough even if you study for weeks. Not a horrible class just be prepared to constantly study if you want to even pass.

Rathburn is great as a professor. He knows exactly what he is talking about, and then some. He LOVES students who try! This class however is NOT easy! 3 tests 1 final and you better KNOW the material. Trick questions and "which of the following is false" are common + essay questions. ATTEND CLASS! What he says is the test! You don't need the book

This class is ridiculous. The book does not help you, tests are only over what he talks about during class. Nearly all of the students in the class are failing. It's either pass or fail no in between.

He was USELESS!! If you need help with something forget about it. He only graded us on tests and we only had 3 so the ending result was over 50% of the class failed the course. He never responded to emails. Most ridiculous professor I have ever had.

Dr. Rathburn is tough, but y'all are in college, so deal with it. Word is that he teaches everything two levels tougher than it's listed, and that's not a bad thing. Everything that's on the test is stuff he's gone over in class, and in 110, there are no assignments. Take copious notes and we'll talk about the rest next time.

Great teacher, but does not post anything on blackboard nor does he really give you concise information on what YOU NEED to know for the test. The material covered for one test is too great for any one person to remember. His test are awful and the overall class is the most difficult I have ever experienced. I do not recommend this class at all.

He makes a tough test but if you go to EVERY class you will be fine. Not an easy 100 level class but its interesting and there is no homework or papers which is nice. Grade is all test.

Very fun teacher and really knows what he's talking about since he's had firsthand experience in the field. Also slips in jokes to the material nicely. Take lots of notes and you'll be fine on the tests, I haven't really needed the book. Gladly repeats info if necessary. Trust me, the people in my class asked him to almost every 5 minutes.

He really knows what he is talking about and expects you to know it as well. You need to take copious notes to pass any of his tests. He is a great teacher and I enjoyed taking his class. He only took attendance on the first two weeks of class and that was it. Expect tests to be challenging but not extremely hard.

Dr. Rathburn is not a good professor at all. Do not take him unless you are a really good test taker. You take 3 test throught the semester and then a final, THATS IT! No attendance is taken for a grade. Just tests! So I advise you greatly not to take this class unless you want to fail!

He only grades tests, so if you are a bad test taker, forget about this class. He expects you to know every word that comes out of his mouth and does not help at all. When he is sent emails, he never returns them or says anything to you about it, even if you confront him.

Dr. Rathburn is the worst professor I have ever had. I had difficulties with the course because he didn't use a powerpoint or write any notes on the board. I tried to contact him via email and phone, but I never received any response. I approached him about it, but I got the "too bad" response. He has no consideration for his students whatsoever.

Rathburn is passionate about his subject. If you don't take good notes, you might as well drop. Record everything he says and learn it. Tests are difficult. Takes attendance at random times, so go to class and pay attention. Study hard for exams and really try to learn the material. It's not an easy class, that's for sure.

He's tough, but one of the best teachers you will ever have. He's enthusiastic and passionate about geology, takes his job very seriously and is extremely helpful. Just be warned, I can guarantee your grade will reflect what you learned, so don't take his class if you're looking for an easy way out. With Tony, you either learn or fail the class.

Tony is a really smart guy. He made sure we had all the information we needed for the exams. Make sure to take good notes. One of my hardest freshmen classes I took. If you like Science you'll like his class. Overall good guy.
