He is a horrible teacher. He belittles students and violates FERPA by showing other students the class grade book. He doesn't explain the concept well and when he does explain a concept, he expects you to master the concept as soon as he is done with it. He expects you to know concepts that he has taught before. DO NOT TAKE unless you want to fail

It was a tough course, but his office hours are extremely helpful. He does want you to learn and do well, you just need to show you are willing to do the same.

Dr. Deaconu is condescending, teases you, and gets frustrated when you don't answer questions. However, office hours are very useful, and the math center was one of my best friends. He laughed at me on several occasions, but I'm not typically offended. It was definitely a difficult class, but his tests/quizzes are simple and predictable.

He is very condescending when you ask valid questions. He will also call on you in class and proceed to laugh at you when you do not know the answer. This was easily the hardest class I have taken in my life, but it is do-able. Be prepared to work harder than you ever have before and don't forget to utilize the math center if need be.

If you're taking Calc 3 DO NOT take it with Deaconu. Calc 3 is hard but he makes it even harder. His lectures are always unclear and unorganized, and laughs at students when they ask a question. The class average is 62% before the final, and he says it's "not his fault" so he won't curve. Take Mortensen if you actually want to learn.

Don't take Calc III from him. As a non-degree student, I didn't have much choice, and I wish I just would have waited to take this class. Not only is his grading outrageous, but his lectures are impossible to understand, he only uploads half his notes to his website, and he doesn't answer questions. He can avoid questions better than Bill Clinton.

His teaching style is awful. If you ask him to clarify something he just said he won't even look at you and laugh. He feels as though he's better than all of us and he shows it. Wouldve moved my whole schedule around if I knew how bad he was.

Professor Deaconu tries so hard to be helpful, but the way he lectured and the concepts he covered were really hard to understand. The tests were also hard, although he gives partial credit (besides the multiple choice). He is helpful during office hours, but doesn't curve. He does let you replace a test with your final if it will help your grade.

He has been teaching math for too long, so every topic makes sense to him. He therefore does not explain everything fully and forgets most of us are seeing this material for the first time. I gave up towards the end of the semester out of hopelessness

Teaches at a level that is incomprehendible for students who are not mathematics majors. His tests are difficult and only consist of 5 free response questions, where you are graded on every step of your work including the answer. His homework always took me at least two or three hours to complete unless I had someone helping me. I do not recommend

He is not very clear on the topic, practice homework is super easy but anything for credit like homework, quizzes, and test are very difficult, and the material on the test is not clear and very difficult.

Deacon is a very difficult teacher and he is one of those people who is too smart for his own good. He has a problem understanding any questions that you have on the most simple topics in class, and his accent is hard to understand. I would not recommend this class to anyone taking Calc 181. The homework is unnecessarily hard, and the class sucks.

He expects all of his students to remember everything you have ever done in a math class. He is pretty straight forward when it comes to quizzes and tests, he gives study guides with everything that is going to be on the tests. It is a hard class and he can be a bit condescending but there are worse professors

While his teaching style is abrasive and mean, you can learn a lot from this man if you do office hours. He's more willing to go over the difficult problems & his tests are very fair: he gives you a practice exam with the same types of problems as the actual test. Study those and memorize your formulas (he sadly provides none) and you'll be fine.

He gave tests that were unnecessarily difficult, with no curves and no aid such as formulas. Tests were always way harder than the homework. Did not explain well and when students asked questions, he'd laugh. Test average was always below 50%. One day he told us that we are a bad class, because the average score was so low. He never took the blame.
