I thought Vanessa was great! Instead of lecturing on her material, we usually talked in small groups so everyone participated. Not to much work outside of class besides the usual few papers. Very hard to access over email so if you need to get a hold of her, be sure to stop in her office hours. Over, she was great and I would take again.

interesting lectures and discussions. be sure to get involved in discussions and look over powerpoints and book. a very nice and passionate teacher. may be difficult to communicate with but definitely better than most teachers.

Vanessa is the person in charge of the HBSE classes so she is a good person to take for them. She answers questions and is very candid in class. She noticed when I was having a rough day due to personal issues and made sure that I was alright.

Vanessa is such a great professor! She really knows what she is talking about. I like that the class is discussion based, instead of her lecturing the whole time, it feels more like a conversation. She doesn't mind if you spend the whole class on one subject as long as everyone's talking and offering their opinions. I would definitely recommend!

Vanessa is by far my favorite teacher in the Social Work program and SVSU. She is personable and doesn't make things harder than they have to be. She makes class fun and keeps things interesting. Take her if you have the chance!

A great professor. She is one that will make you cry, laugh, and ask questions in her class. She have a warm, caring heart and you can tell it goes beyond her teaching at the University. Do not take her kindness for weakness.She is extremely helpful if you ask for help. She share real life stories and I like her swag/style. Highly recommended!!!!!

I had to take an extra semester and didn;t get to graduate with my class because she is so unorganized. I hope she can commit to rolling her mouse over her email and clicking on it so she knows what her students needs are. Not impressed.

She was by far one of the best professors that I have had. She tells stories that are relevant to what we are learning and she actually care how well you do. She is finally starting to use technology, but the best way to get a hold of her is to go to her office hours and she is always willing to help you there.

This class was super easy. No tests, just quizzes on Mondays and two other assignments. Sometimes the wording on the quizzes was a little confusing, but if you read the book and use common sense you'll do fine. Vanessa is very helpful in class, but doesn't really do emails. There is a lot of class discussion time and Vanessa tells a lot of stories.
