He knows so much, but at times that can be difficult to figure out what you really need to know for the course. Really bad at updating Moodle, and expects you to read the whole chapter. You really have to be diligent to keep up with his course.

Comment:

One of the most brilliant men Ive ever met but dont let that fool you. I have to admit although a good man he gives too much work. If you dont love history dont pick Busch. Youll learn a lot if you do just be prepared for copious work.

Comment:

Very text heavy for the course itself, but Busch relies on quizzes that make you read the whole chapter. Doesn't update moodle with enough time before projects and quizzes so watch out for surprise all night readings of the long chapters. Really good with knowing the material that he covers in depth, which is awesome for a class like this. Study!!

This man is brilliant. I learned more from him than from any other teacher in Crane, and plan on taking every upper division elective with him. If every teacher taught like him, maybe Crane would be up to the standards like to think Crane lies.

Dr. Busch is one of the most knowledgeable professors in Crane. If you complain about the workload, IT'S MUSIC YA DOLT AND YOU ARE IN MUSIC SCHOOL! PREPARE TO DO SOME WORK TO LEARN ABOUT IT. Take every class possible with this man.

Hardest class I ever took in my life!!! Hands Down! He knows sooo much about music, but he does not know how to teach. he also does not realize that we have other classes besides his to deal with and assigns an unreasonable amount of work in a short amount of time. I had NO SOCIAL life when i took this class because I had to study so much!!

It surprises me that so many people give him a good rating. I agree that he is brilliant, but his teaching style is by far the worst I have ever seen. You basically will teach yourself this course - he puts questions on Blackboard and you have to read the book every night. He never teaches.. One of the worst teachers I have ever had.

Brilliant teacher and musicologist. He has fantastic taste in music. I wish I took more classes with him. German Lied was amazing! Highly recommended!

Dr. Busch is a brilliant historian, writer, and musician. He dedication to the matter at hand is evident through his absolute enthusiam. If you are excited about music and a serious musician, take his classes. If you aren't serious, don't waste his time!

Amazing course. I loved his enthusiasm and dedication to the course. He made it really fun! I only wish that there were more tests because the amount of info on each one is overwhelming. They are hard even if you study for 9 hours before them.

Incredibly brilliant, funny and caring--in person. Some issue brought up with him seem to be strategically ignored (as in problems with access to assignments online, grading policy, etc.) You'll learn more in his lit class than from any other professor.
