I love Ed. This was my second class with him and if Sociology was my major, I would make sure to take all my classes, that I could, with him. Very helpful and takes what students say about the classes very seriously. This was a new class added in and it was a good class.

Ed makes statistics easy because he teaches you just what you need to know for the social sciences and doesn't try to push extra stuff. The course structure was logical, with 8 or 9 quizzes over the course of the semester building up to a final research project, which we had time to do in class. A fun course with many opportunities to ask questions

Ed Collom teaches an amazing sample course which nearly convinced me to change majors. His lectures are easy to understand and are very entertaining. His passion for research will surely rub off on you. He encouraged us to participate in civil disobedience and I even went to a protest which he organized. lectures directly coincided with tests.

Collom is really good about incorporating student's suggestions into the class format. He changed the syllabus and gave study guides for exams when the class requested it. Really knows his stuff and is passionate about conveying new ideas to students. Keeps attendance and counts it as part of your grade. Great Prof!

Ed's a great guy who will help all he can if you seek him out. He's not going to hold your hand and chase you around, you must call upon him. Take good notes in class and read and you will do fine. I pulled an A without killing myself but don't get me wrong, he's no cupcake. Attendance is very important. He WILL NOT publish his power point on line

Ed's class was a breeze...just copy down everything on the PowerPoint slides and if you miss anything just e-mail him and he'll send you the slides. His tests are simple if you go to class and take notes.

Not a fan. He's really hard. TOO much reading, and the tests are horrid. You have to know the smallest detail out of thousands of pages of reading to even pass the exams. I had a really hard time with this class. He is a lot harder than I had thought.

I liked Ed's class - if you show up and take the notes right from his PowerPoint lectures, the tests are a breeze. Attendance is important, as he doesn't post his lectures in Blackboard, but there are many discussions/debates about various topics. Although his political side shows periodically, for the most part his class was very enjoyable.

Ed is a great teacher, can be dry at times, but really good. There is a TON of work, and readings, it's hard to have this class with a full time course load. It was interesting though. Grading was usually fair, although I feel that I deserved higher grades on the final and analysis.

Be ready to work. In fact he expects at least 4 credits of work. He is very knowlegeable!!! Also, he is going to quiz and test you on material before even going over it! How a professor can test on material before going over it is beyond me.
