This was a First Year Experience class, his first time teaching it in fact. Very little work, short class and a good person overall. Excited to take his Critical Thinking class this upcoming semester!!!

A truly terrible professor. Totally without charisma or personality, his classes are awkward and discussion is highly discouraged. He teaches a discussion class and yet only lectures, truly a terrible teacher for critical thinking.

Professor Davenport isnt hard on anyone, the lectures can be tedious, or boring, but other than that youll be fine. I had him for Thinking Critically in 2019, he was an amazing professor. As long as you come to class and read a little youll do fine.

not difficult as long as you pay attention. although it feels more like an english class than a philosophy class. you will need both textbooks (cheap though). hes a funny guy, yes hes awkward but hes great. non-comprehensive final. papers are easy.

The class is easy, as long as you try the assignments, you will pass. You'll have to calculate your own grades since he doesn't use black board and you won't be up to date with your grades. He takes over a week to get 70 1-2 page papers graded when english professors take a few days to grade about 150 15-20 page essays (not exaggerating).

He's nice enough, but he uses the same few examples for everything and will tell the same stories over and over and over again. He never seemed to be able to remember what we'd done already, so we frequently went over the same material more than once. He takes a long time to grade. Overall, not difficult, just repetitive and somewhat boring.

Davenport is very enthusiastic. He has a tendency to humor tangents but honestly his class is extremely entertaining. He is flexible on his attendance policy if you are actually invested in the materials. He is a little silly but all of the assignments are easy. Give him a chance he has a very good heart.

Some people have said that he slurred his speech. I know for a fact that he has had some health problems. Don't judge so quickly. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his lectures. Highly recommended.

Although he was late to class almost every day, he made the classroom a comfortable learning environment. He had good excuses for being late, which is all that matters. He had many moments where he laughed randomly or at himself and it brought a smile to everyone in the classes face. Would recommend taking Philosophy with him. As long as you study!

Mr. Davenport does indeed ramble, frequently late and occasionally slurred his words, but this man is awesome. I honestly loved my time in his Thinking Critically class. It's incredibly boring but a cake walk. easy grader and tests are ridiculously easy. he's a dork and loves talking about the titanic but he's hilarious!

He was often late for class. He rambled about his life and his interests. He never directly answered a question that was asked. At times he slurred his words to the point where he appeared inebriated. I learned nothing from this class. Would not recommend.

He doesn't know how to update anything online. He is often late, extremely repetitive, and he grades tough. He assigned many papers which he would take weeks to grade. He claims that he takes attendance as a grade but has never given an attendance list.

Late to almost every class, and a tad above the heads of most in the class. A lot of people don't 'get' philosophy though, so equal parts his explaining and subject at fault. Dorky, but overall nice and helpful. Tests were easy if you study and you're prepared very well. Keep an open mind and express interest and you'll be fine.

He did ramble and repeat himself a lot. fortunately, I understood the material. Others in the class weren't as lucky. I liked him and enjoyed the class. I got an A, but I can't speak for everyone in the class. He was a fair grader, though.

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with most of the posts. He is a terrible teacher, rambles too much, doesn't stay on task, has no structure to his teachings, he talks "above" the class in terms and reference. He hasn't been on time once for class, he has no control of the students and most of them are lost on the materials. Do not recommend.

Good guy, smart, but a suggestion would be to lower the style of communication as not to seem like an intellectual bully, it's a community college, not Harvard, i don't speak Harvard. lol

He is a great teacher. Before I took philosophy I thought it was going to be extremely boring and was not excited. I actually enjoy going to his classes. He is a very nice guy and knows tons about the subject. Attendance is mandatory because you do workshops at the end of class for points. Overall, I would deff reccomend this teacher to anyone.
