He's a caring person, he's amazing. As long as you listen to his lectures (his personal experience story) and take a few notes, you will do fine. Participate once in a blue moon, awesome. Anything that concerns you, he will help out. Had an amazing time in his class! definity take him for sociology.

His class was very inspiring. Gives you a lot of advice on what to expect in the "real world." Make sure to read the assigned chapter before call, because he sometimes calls on random students. Gives two exams and one paper. NEVER be late to his class because if you are he will kick you out. Be ready to take lots of notes (it will be on the exam)

William is a wonderful professor. Very knowledgeable, so get ready to take good notes because his exams are based on the book you read for class and things he talk about in class. I would take him again.

Class isn't bad. Lectures are mostly his experiences and expertise as a sociologist (quite an impressive resume). The only downside is A LOT of reading (5 textbook chapters + 2 chapters from his book) which you are given about a month/month and a half to complete. It's not enough to read chapter summaries; he'll test specific things. Only two tests

Good professor & the lectures are very interesting. But your grade is based on 2 exams 50/50 (optional paper 1/3). He expects you to read about 300 pages plus the lecture notes. Thankfully, his book was really interesting. I think its just a lot for 25/ 30 questions. The questions can be tricky and very specific so make sure you pay attention.

One midterm, one final, one optional paper (if you did poorly in midterm). Great professor will recommend to anyone. Funny, extremely knowledgeable and easy going. His exams are a bit unclear, read the textbook as well as his book. Introductory class as well as a fun one but not an easy A. Take good notes, read very attentively and show up!

Prof speaks from experience barely learning anything about sociology. Two exams for the semester. Midterm and Final are the same format. Choose 25/30 multiple choice questions from in class lecture, textbook chapters, and his own book. The exams are light if you do the reading and study your notes. He takes attendance verbally.

Helmreich is a great professor. He is straight to the point about everything. He gave us a midterm and a final with an optional paper to raise our grade Clear instructions, gave us exact material to be on test (Study!) His lectures were inspiring. 100% recommend. If you're late don't show, he'll kick you out (not me but saw it happen!)

In my opinion, a lot of work for an intro class. I found myself studying the most for this class than required classes within my major. His lectures are interesting so you won't fall asleep but they sometimes contradict what he says in his book (both are required to know for exams). The material is easy, but the memorization and effort is a lot.

his lectures are interesting but he can drag on and on. All he does is lecture, no powerpoints, no bb, no handouts. He can be rude at times so be prepared. You should also start studying for his exams sooner than later because it's a lot to cram in one or two days. Do not be late, he will call you out and make you leave. n do the paper if u need 2

Professor Helmreich is a great professor! He is straightforward; the requirements for the course are the midterm, the final exam, there's an optional paper also. He's also very humorous and is one of the best lecturers at CCNY, he'll likely keep you awake and interested. Read his book, skim the textbook and get all lecture notes and you will get A!

One of the best professors and class I ever had at City College! He wrote his own book. ONE final ONE midterm and an OPTIONAL paper. STudy his lecture notes, read his book, and you can just read the summaries of the textbook, I guaranteed an A! His real life stories are phenomenal and very engaging! There was never a boring class/lecture!

Best professor I have ever had at City College. He tells entertaining stories which go along with the lesson. Review states everything that will be on the exams. Exams mostly on his book and lectures, not much from the textbook at all. If given the opportunity take his class. Interesting subject, great professor, and an easy A.
