He is amazing. His tests are hard,read the book. His expectations are clear from day 1 of class. Go to his office hours if you don't understand something, he is extremely helpful if you go. Would take another class with him if I could.

Professor Nye's class was my favorite this semester. He starts each class with a joke and really knows his subject material. It only takes a little dedication to make an A in this class. Overall a great professor for a great class!

Dr. Nye is great! He starts each class with a corny elaborate joke and it's usually over most people's head, but if you are an older student they make you chuckle. He explains the material well, and his quizzes are pretty easy. The mid term and final are straight from the book, I barely used my notes. Good student's will get an A!

GREAT teacher, only problem I had with him was when I asked a question through email. Don't be surprised if you get attitude from him for asking ANYTHING in email. Whatever you need to ask him just do it in person. He's a fair grader and a wonderful teacher, most teachers could learn a lot from this man. There is a 2 pg. abstract to do and 2 tests.

My favorite class so far in my degree. Phonetics is a lot of fun. If you are a good student it will be a breeze. Definitely read the book, the mid-term and final will require that you do. It is an easy read! Mr. Nye is funny and clear in his teaching. Overall, fun class great teacher.

Expectations are clear and in syllabus. Book is helpful for midterm and final, otherwise, never looked at the thing. He has certain expectations that he clearly lays out, other than that, he is very willing to help students. I've dropped in on office hours and had all my questions answered. I love his corny jokes, but turn of your phone or else

So funny and helpful! If you go to class, read the textbook for exams, and pay attention, you'll be fine. He's very clear about his expectations for tests and any assignments, and his lectures are easy to follow.

He's not very nice. You can tell he knows what he's talking about, but he's rude and tells really bad moral jokes. The class wasn't that hard but he does give pop quizzes randomly and missing them WILL mess up your grade. The book is useless except on the final he did have a random question about the author. I wouldn't waste your money on the book.

Class is a bit difficult, but if you study a little it's a breeze! The test and abstract come off a little intimidating, but really aren't that bad. The book is helpful for a little practice and clarity, but really isn't needed. Dr. Nye is funny and really helpful and gives a lot of extra info and insight to the field! GREAT CLASS & GREAT TEACHER!

Watch out, if he doesn't like you then he will target you. After claiming assignments I handed in had never gotten to him, belittling me to other people, and making random assignments out of the blue specifically on days that I left early (after I left), I broke down and barely finished the class.

This Professor was AMAZING!!! I loved his phonetics class. Extreemly helpful and caring. Wants you to succeed not only in his class but in the career. Will help you anyway he can. I wish he taugh more classes I would take him every chance I got. The only professor I know that takes the time to explain all aspects of your career.

Dr. Nye is one of the best professors I have ever taken. He is an asset to the Comm Dis dptmt. His classes are never boring his funny sense of humor and kind spirit makes him a great source to go to with any questions about the major, field, or for research. He is really passionate and it shows. I highly recommend him!

Favorite Class Ever! Dr. Nye is an awesome professor. You can talk to him about anything. He is very easy going and extremely helpful. He spent time and talked to us about grad school. Make sure you use the cds and practice them once a week! If you listen to the cds and go to lab you will do great! Only used my book to study for the tests.

This was my favorite class this semester! Phonetics is so much fun to learn. You have to practice with those CD's. It will help you soo much. And Dr.Nye is approachable so it's easy to get help. It's not a hard class but there are days where there's pop quizzes so go to class. Don't need the book very often but for tests you need it!

Dr. Nye is great. He truly cares about the students. He is the only one who gives advice to the class about grad school as part of his lecture. Prof. Nye is very intelligent, he knows his Phonetics. You learn alot of interesting stuff in this class & he does a good job teaching it. Don't expect Phonetics to be easy b/c its not, you HAVE to practice ALOT! His corny jokes were cute, gotta love him. Oh, DONT BUY THE BOOK. It was a waste of my money, never even opened it.

Dr Nye is amazing!!! Study hard and practice lots! REMEMBER NOTRE DAME! A lot of his jokes suck but laugh anyway! Don't get behind or you'll have a hard time catching up and even though he posts the notes go to class in case there's a quiz (or homework).

You must practice to be successful in this class. Dr. Nye is great! He's classes are interesting and his attempts to make the class laugh are more funny then his actual jokes. Keep caught up from the beginning. Tests are little difficult.

I don't know, I had a hard time with Phonetics. It takes allllot of practice. Lab helps alot. He seems to rush the material at the end though, which is kinda frustrating. But all in all, I liked him. His corny jokes were great. :P

awsome, awsome, awsome teacher...his class was interesting and fun and he helps u the best he can...he is very thorough in his teachings and notes..tests are do-able, study and u will pull an "a"! he practices transcription all the time and will always help....take him over anyone else...he's great
