Prof Long is very sweet. She tries really cares/knows a lot about the material. She is very clear in her lectures. Don't be fooled though. The material is dense and complicating. Her tests can be tricky (though she says she doesn't try to be). Your grade will be dependent upon how much work you put in. She's not bad but not amazing either.

Kind, knowledgeable, and clear. However, sometimes lectures felt dragged out and boring. Midterms were application-based rather than pure memorization, and she also tested on material from the book that wasn't covered in lecture. Read the book and take good notes in lecture and you'll do fine. 3 midterms, 1 optional final, and extra credit.

She's such a nice lady but it takes her forever to get a point across. She almost never gets through all the slides even though she could deliver all of the relevant info in about half the time. I don't think that all PSC 100 classes are as easy as this though. Her lectures are very theory/concept based. There is almost no "science" involved.

A great professor! I would highly recommend her class. She makes it easier for you by giving weekly study guides. Stay on top of that and go to her office hours and you'll do well on the tests. 3 MTs and an optional final.

Her class wasn't difficult at all, as long as you attend all lectures or listen to her podcasts and read the textbook. Her tests are reasonable and she tests you on how to apply concepts rather than straight memorizing topics. You have to thoroughly understand the material. 3 midterms + 1 optional final, one exam dropped and extra credit

she was hard for me. she has 4 exams and you can drop one(that's all). each exam has 50 MCQs and all tested on conceptual understanding so even if you memorize the lecture, it won't guarantee you can answer the question on the exams. you really need the book and have to go to office hours for further clarification of each concept she is teaching.

Professor Long is a nice, smart person. However, she is not very good at teaching. She cannot explain the marterial in a precise and clear way. (she repeats things a lot.) 3 midterms and 1 final (optional, cumulative). You have to review both lecture notes and the book for exams.

I honestly thought I would get a B looking at her reviews but I did the bare minimum for this class and got an A. Review lecture slides and bolded stuff on study guide to prepare for exams. Book was helpful for some terms but i barely used it. MC is fair and comes from lecture and study guides. Its a good class w/ lots of info.

Comment:
Professor Long is really nice and very knowledgeable about cognitive psychology. But she talks in circles and jumps around, making the already difficult material MUCH more challenging. Her lectures are very long and thorough (research heavy, boring), and if you don't go you will NOT succeed. TONS of outside reading. Wouldn't take again.

Horrible. Between her grating voice and talking in circles this class is extremely difficult. 4 exams drops the lowest. Questions are extremely tricky. Not much overlap between book and lecture so you do double duty.

I absolutely loved taking this class with Dr. Long! It was difficult, but she makes it very interesting. The lectures are long, but she explains everything clearly and gives multiple examples. She podcasts, but I found podcast lectures much harder to follow. Exams are based on lecture and book. She gives detailed study guides. Overall loved her!

She was a great prof! Her lectures were interesting and she was very clear. She also shows great enthusiasm for the subject. Her tests are pretty difficult though, so you should really study. Also she takes her test material from the lectures and the book.

3 Midterms, optional final, easy extra credit. She's got good humor and explains things really clearly, with stories to make things more interesting and memorable. Lectures are long but she gives you breaks, and honestly her style of lecturing is interesting enough to keep it from dragging. You have to read the book, but it's not hard to get an A.

Nice and funny professor, but the material can get boring which makes lectures feel like an eternity. She knows a lot about the subject but talks in circles which makes specific items you absolutely need to know confusing. Readings are not discussed in class and are 1/3 of the exams, which were immensely comprehensive and HARD. EC assigned randomly

The class consists of 3 midterms (50pts each), an optional final, and 6pts of EC. Professor Long gives you detailed study guides before each midterm that include everything you need to know (from lecture and the textbook). The tests are fair; if you understand the concepts on the study guide, you will do well on the tests.

Great Professor. Very knowledgeable and interested in her subject which is shown through her enthusiasm. Knows how long her lectures can be, but does her best to keep them interesting and has lots of stories to share. Tests are directly from lecture and book. Go to lecture, do the study guides, read the book, and you'll get an A.

Her teaching style is not my favorite. I don't like the way she explains things. She DRAGS things on without really getting to the point. I feel like she made the material more difficult, due to talking in circles, than the book did. Eventually stopped going to class because of this and listened to podcast when needed and did just fine.

Fantastic professor, easily the best I've had so far. She does a great job of explaining all the material in class, and she is funny to boot. The lectures can be long and dull, but her humor and stories really help make the class more interesting. You do have to read and show up to ALL lectures. Her tests basically come from lecture.

She is very knowleagable and competent on the subject and very sharp. I didn't like cognitive psychology per se, but I liked the way she taught it and tried to make it more interesting to us. Her exams were HARD! Be sure you know what's on the lectures inside out and read the textbook as well.
