Prof. Amaya is such a cute grandpa. I was the only asian kid in the class and the rest were Hispanic Americans, but he did not left me out. He encouraged students to mingle and share stories about their culture and interest (this is what cultural study is about, isn't it?) He is also very funny and nice. Speak him in spanish, and he will love you!

Aww el professor Amaya was such a good man.Talk to him in spanish if you know it and he' ll take a liking to you.This class is a breeze.All you do is watch movies..watch people present and thats about it.Go for it!

im currently taking this professor. Hes really nice and understanding. All we do is watch videos and rate them...presentations are a key to passing the class. but overall he is a nice professor and i recommend that people take his class if ur looking for an easy grade.

Professor amaya is really easy. He does curve all the exams. You watch a lot of movies (good interesting moviest). I feel that he knows his material but does not really challenge students. I would recomend him if you need a GPA boost and want to learn the bear minimal about Chicana/o Studies. However their is way more to the subject.

What an interesting man! The films you'll see in class he's lived. . . he was there! The walkouts, Ceasar Chavez, Chavez Ravine etc.. It was really cool to hear the first hand recollection of these events! Take him before he retires! You won't regret it!

Amaya is the best! Such a nice man and very funny. Cool teacher, very little work and a lot of movies. I am taking him for summer and I can't believe how kick back the class is. I highly recommend him!

Class is overall fun, and can be easy if you like reading. There are @ least 4 novels to read along with the text book. Otherwise, you watch movies, listen to speakers and take lots of notes. Tests are MC and not long. It felt like I had to constantly ask what was due when since we didn't stick to the assignment outline.

Professor Amaya is a really cool fellow. Took the summer course and will probably end up with an "A". The only thing that was hard is having to read those books and then write evaluations (1 book per week for a total of 5). No final, just do 2 current events per week and you'll do fine. Overall easy class.
