Professor Marchevsky is a very caring professor. I wouldn't recommend taking her course if you dislike group projects. The best part of her course is discussing the subject material with her in class. The class itself isn't difficult but if you don't enjoy group work then I suggest that you stay away.

Amazing professor! She assigns two readings per week. One essay is assigned, take home midterms and take home final. The prompts are given 2 weeks before due date with specific instructions.

Dr. Marchevsky is a great professor. Her class was tough and demanded a lot, but if you are a good student and you put in some effort you will learn a lot. Her course requires a lot of reading, writing, and critical thinking. However, it definitely broadened my perspective in the course subject. There are a lot of chances to get extra credit too.

She leaves 3 scholarly journals and a book chapter per school day, not school week. You have to be prepared to bring those materials to class because she will call you out if you didn't. Quizzes are easy but she gets nit picky and deducts a point out each question. Photogenic memory is require for this class. She leaves a lot of extra credit.

This is a great professor. She is very knowledgable about the subjects she teaches, which are detailed and complex. She has awareness of the world's problems, and directs her teaching in ways that focus on these issues - a rare gift amongst post-secondary educators. Do yourself a favor and take as many of her classes as you can.

I was thankful to have studied with her. She is very intelligent and encouraged us to be resourceful and study hard. The readings were challenging. I learned a great deal of new, thought-provoking information. She enabled our discussions. If you have the opportunity to be in her class and want a meaningful university experience, don't miss it!

Her readings are long but very interesting. She gives out fun extra credit. In the first writing assignment after the deadline instead of giving us a bad grade, she gave back the paper with corrections and said "I give you an extra week to make it better." Very helpful and always makes time for you if you have questions.

I've taken Dr. Marchevsky for LBS 489/490 (senior thesis) WMN 203 & Feminist theory and I have tremendous respect for her. She is so smart, so passionate, and I truly feel honored to have been in her classes. She makes everything interesting, and when a professors passion shows, it makes the students care. I'll always remember her.

Marchevsky is a tough grader, extra credit was worth only about 2 or 3 points. Other than that she is a nice lady and knows what she's talking about.

Challenging teacher in a positive way. No textbook but several articles and two novels with random quizzes so DO THE READING! She makes herself available to students which is great for the senior project. Not a good class for slackers, but you might get inspired by her, like myself, as she makes meaningful learning the goal. I highly recommend.

She grades her papers very hard. She expects you to actually ANALYZE in your papers rather than just answer. Although she grades tough, she will help you if you ask for it or if she feels you need it. You must complete the readings!!!

I had the opportunity to take two independent studies classes with Prof. Marchevsky: LBS 499 and WOMN 499. She is one of my favorite professors! She expects alot but she provides the tools necessary for you to meet her expectations. She is an asset to CSULA! I will definitely take another class with her!

She makes you write at least three papers where you have to analyze the topics like crazy. Her writing standards are high and at times she would have a pop quiz. Readings are suppppper long. Attendance is mandatory, since she deducts your grade due to your absence. I was so happy once I got out of this class ..

Very passionate about topic. She presents fascinating topics about women's studies but the bad part is that the class is structured around literary analyzation, much like an English class. She grades hard which I can deal with but I wish we focused on more contemporary issues & how we can make changes. A LOT of reading!

Her papers are long and must be detailed. She criticizes your paper and expects you to do a job that is up to her standards. The class is hard, but manageable I guess. Although, she does get frustrated explaining things at times.

Loved the class and the teacher. She's very understanding and even though the papers she asks from us are not easy, they're a lot less demanding than Sharp's (Sharp is also an excellent teacher). I believe she's one of the teachers who made me really begin to love Liberal Studies.
