Comment:

Best professor at DePaul - hilarious and provided great real-world examples, which was useful for the midterm and final exam. He doesn't have a D2L page nor respond to e-mails, but try meeting with him during office hours! If he sees a student take interest in the course, he will help you do well. Because of this class, I'm interested in law. 10/10

Comment:

Professor Devience isn't just a phenomenal professor, he is a mentor in the truest essence of the word. It is truly rare to find a professor with such a passion for helping others. Taking his class is not a cakewalk, but the work and effort that you put into his course will reap rewards that you didn't even dream were attainable.

Nice guy, hard to hear when speaks. He has no criteria when grading, just hope he has the time to read your mid term/final. You will pass even if you don t care.

This is a great professor if you actually want to learn business law and have a fun, inspiring professor. He has interesting stories and you definitely dont want to miss the lectures because they help for the midterm/final. Do all the problems he assigns because those will help!

nice guy, after reading and trying to do hw then knowing i did ok on the mid term i just knew it didnt matter if i showed up to class and not do any of the hw. it was funny when i went up to him n not showing up for four weeks. hes a nice guy and means well, if anything just meet with him and talk in office hours, that helped me pass the final

Grade is 50% Midterm and 50% Final, so if you do bad, you're not going to get a good grade. No powerpoints, you have to simply pay attention to what he says and that's hard to do since he speaks so quietly. You won't have any idea what your grade is until he posts it officially and I did a lot worse than I thought despite doing all the readings.

Professor Devience is the literally the best professor that I've ever had. He is a great lecturer and is very knowledgable. Honestly, such a genuine professor and really wants all his students to succeed. If you put in the work you will do well and learn a whole lot.

Comment:

Devience is a solid teacher with a lot of experience as a lawyer (he tried a case in front of the Supreme Court). If you read the chapters, do the homework, and participate in class you should have no problem getting an A. Only grades are midterm and final but every question on the exams he will have lectured about in class.

I took Professor Devience for BLW201. Excellent teacher overall. Yes, he requires you to read the chapters and brief the cases, but this honestly helped me learn the material. His midterm and finals are overall easy if you pay attention in class. He also offers review sessions before the midterm and final. I recommend you take him.

He's obviously very knowledgable about law however, you have to be a very specific type of student if you want to do good in his class. He focuses literally only on the couple people that participate and that's about it. Your grade solely depends on the midterm and final. Not a crazy amount of reading but definitely keep up. No power points/d2l

It was both an honor & a pleasure to be in Professor Devience's BLW 201 class as he shared his many years of Law Practice to DePaul. I have never had a more exciting & knowledgeable class in my 3 years of college life! I highly recommend taking this amazing professor!! Do it !

Professor Devience really cares about you if you show that you're trying. There are only two grades in the class, midterm & final, but he gives extra points if you participate. His lectures + stories are really funny if you pay attention, and he'll make it really clear what he wants you to know. Lecture heavy, but worth it. Book is free online.

Professor Devience is a great professor at DePaul. I could not be more grateful for having him as my professor in BLW 201. He is available for you if you have difficulty understanding the lectures. I jumped high in the air when I noticed he gave me an A. I can easily tell you he gave me so many chances to do well. Take him! You will love him!

He is hilarious... you are absolutely going to love him. He challenges you to argue your point and corrects you if you are wrong in a very respectful way. But hey..! that's how we learn. Believe me! I have problems focusing and learning sometimes but when he corrects you or someone else, you will never forget what is the right answer. TAKE HIM..!!

He's very knowledgeable about the subject but honestly he's just kind of an a$$. His teaching style was definitely not for me but I could see how some would find it amusing I guess. If there's a better teacher u can find, take them. If not maybe you will enjoy this class but personally I found it miserable

the class is fine if you can handle his attitude. he tells us he wants us to participate bc its part of our grade yet he makes students feel stupid when speaking in class and literally makes fun of them to their faces. personally he pissed me off too many times in class to get anything out of it. easy class if u can handle his horrible personality.

I would totally give an Oscar's to Professor Devience! This class is easy if you participate, Do your Briefs and questions, (he reads everything) and know the important information for Midterm and Final. He is always willing to work around with students. He strongly believes in second chances, as long as you are willing to put effort on class.

Professor Devience is one of the best professors at DePaul. He truly understands law like the back of his hand. 50% Midterm and 50% Final so do your homework, participate in class, and turn in your homework for participation credit (he doesn't mention this but he does actually read your work). Take good notes, lectures are summaries of readings

Prof. Deviance is one of the best professors I've had a DePaul. He pushes you to think outside of the box and look for factors that would help you to understand the material. No answers are ever wrong to him, he loves when students participate and give their reasons on how they determine their answers or decisions. He is always there for students.

Grade depends on few things but he will lower or raise your grade upon how much effort he thinks you have put in. Didn't know where i stood grade wise until he already submitted grades. He makes his students feel dumb when participating and proposing an incorrect answer.
