Comment:

Amelia Triest makes difficulty bearable. Her Music 16A class, while intimidating at first, is simplified by her easy going personality and her clear grading criteria. During audits, she does not intimidate you, but rather, motivates you to do well. Most of what is on the audit is covered during class, so with practice, you should do well!

Comment:

If you have ever played a musical instrument, this class will bore you. It mainly comprises of learning how to read music and the basics of music, so test out of it if you can. Otherwise, get the textbook because homework is in the textbook. Also most of your work is done in discussion, not lecture.

Triest is awesome and caring, you do most of your learning with your TA. Easy A if you have musical background, if not you have to put in some work. Not the lightest GE if no background but A still obtainable. Class not curved so value every point if you want an A. Homework not graded on completion. No tricks on quiz and mt, few tricks on final.

Easiest GE in my life, I do have a musical background though. Class is extremely well organized. Triest is very kind and a wonderful professor. Three discussions with a TA per week and one lecture with her a week. Just do the hw. You'll love this class. Would recommended!

Super friendly, enthusiastic, and easy to talk to. In the beginning of the quarter, she let us resubmit homework if we made too many mistakes and the tests are very fair. Would definitely recommend taking this teacher.

One of my favorite professors ever! People keep saying this is an easy A even if you don't show up, which may be true, but seriously, go to class even if you don't need to. I had her for 16A and the class was seriously a party. I genuinely looked forward to going to that class. Super fun :)

Ms. Triest is the best! She's funny, nice, and always willing to help. The class is super easy too. I only attended lectures on days we had quizzesmidterm, and still passed the class with an A. Recitation is where you actually learn. If you know music, this class will be the easiest A you will ever get.

This class was super easy. I skipped most of the lectures and attended the rest of them just for quizzes and midterms. Then I got an A+. She was nice and funny. Best class for GE!!

Ms. Triest is my favorite teacher so far. She's funny, always willing to help, and very easy to talk to. She tries to be as clear as possible when explaining material and she always makes sure everyone in class understands. She's fantastic! Definitely take one of her classes if you get the chance!

Comment:

Amelia is a great teacher. She's always willing to help, and is almost always readily available. If you turn in your work on time, you'll definitely get an A. As a counselor she is also exceptional. She knows when you're struggling and gives great advise. If you're thinking of taking one of her classes, don't hesitate to register.

The class is very easy, the only downside is that attendance is 10% of your grade. You have to double check your homework/quizzes/Tests to get the grade you want. I didn't attend lectures (except for quiz days) and still ended up with an A+. Take this professor!! She's awesome!

I love Professor Triest! She's great at explaining things and very patient when helping us understand concepts. Definitely makes music theory fun. Very fair grading and fair quizzes (she preps you well for them). She's probably the best professor I've had so far at Davis!

Took MUS3A. Loved it. The material was very straightforward and easily understood. Triest was a great teacher, but you learn mostly from you section teacher (try to get Irwin, he's excellent). I'm taking 3B next quarter.

Amazing class and lecturer. If you can, get Triest for section as well. She gives you very straightforward review sheets that tell you what will be on the quiz and goes over all homework and reviews in class. No surprises like other classes. Very easy if you have music background. Section attendance is mandatory unlike other classes.
