Probably one of my favorite professor at LB. She cares so much for her students and she makes Gen Chem so much easier. It takes a lot of work but take Chen and you will get through it. 10/10

The best chemistry professor you can ever hope to have. She works through slides rather than reads off of them which is extremely helpful when it comes to doing homework problems. She truly cares for her students but is also tough to ensure that students are working for their grade. Her humor in class is a plus!

It feels really good to know when I was a 1st year that I had a Professor right out the gate who was there for me. She literally cares so much about your grade and wants to do everything in her power to help you! Youll feel a sense of friendship with her and thats why I was able to ask so many questions, trust me you NEED to ask questions.

She gives great lectures and she's funny with her jokes. As long as you do mastering chemistry and have CHEGG!! and also study her notes you'll be alright. I never went to office hours nor did i ever have the textbook (i always forgot to buy it). I studied hard and the labs for this class are easy. Just don't slack off and DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS!!

Amazing lecturer, but you need to do the book problems. I found that Mastering Chem doesn't do much and just chegging your way through them to do book problems is how to pass. Very low test averages but if you do try your hardest, you WILL pass. I emphasize book problems, do well on lab, because lab exam matters too. Office hrs for clarification!

CHEN IS A QUEEN! She is brilliant and really caring. 111B is hard no matter who you take it with, but Chen makes it fun and is just an altogether 10/10 human. Highly recommend!

Andrea's lectures were very organized and specific so we always understood what was going on. She would gladly answer questions and backtrack if necessary. The class is tough but she made the learning process enjoyable. Andrea is definitely very relatable and seems like the fun Asian aunt every family needs.

An actual queen. I have Marjan for lecture and that is one of my biggest regrets. I wish I chose Andrea. Having her in lab actually makes me understand whatever chapter we're on. I would've dropped the class after the first week if I didn't have her for lab.

This class is bar far the hardest I've ever taken, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TAKE IT AT A COMMUNITY COLLEGE! You'll have much better chances of receiving an A. I failed the Acid-Base/titration exam, so I withdrew from the class. The averages for this class are very low! You have been warned!

I recommend taking professor sorin if you get a chance. chen is okay at explaining things but I've noticed her problems are way too simplified and nothing compared to exams. Professor sorin's students get the advantage of learning harder problems and more similar to test questions since sorin writes the test. chen does the bare minimum.

Andrea Chen is a terrible professor. I received an A in the class and it was not due to any help of her. I don't understand why the rest of of these people rate her so high, - She has kicked me of office hours for asking questions - She discourages your success by encouraging you to dropout because your not "worthy" to continue in chemistry -

Chen is definitely an amazing lecturer, but it DEFINITELY helps when you read the textbook and do the end of chapter problems, especially a week or so before the exams. Whenever you have the time, visit her during office hrs to talk about anything regarding the class, or just to simply chat with her.

Professor Chen is great, helpful, & funny. GO TO LECTURE, DO BACK OF THE BOOK PROBLEMS, DO MC, and GO TO LAB !! Class consist of 1 Chem 111A exam , 3 Chem 111B, and ACS final. The exam acid-base exam is always hard. Averages are in the 40%s. I got 90, 69, 40, 100, and 78% on the exams and passed with an A (CURVED).Dont give up! I almost withdrew :(

As a lecturer, Chen gives clear examples and does a lot of example problems. However, she does get confused sometimes but personally that did not detract from my learning. Majority of learning needs to be done by you outside of class due to nature of course. TEXTBOOK highly recommended. You can mess up on one test but work hard the entire semester.

Even though the material for this class is hard, Chen really cares about her students and teaching the course. I recommend doing the end of the chapter problems and reading the book. Don't quit until the third midterm. That test saved me!

I was lucky to have Chen for lecture and lab. Her lectures are clear to understand with her "real-life" examples. A big chunk of your grade is on her tests, which are hard if you don't do MC and Activities. Do well on the pre-lab quizzes and labs. Barely does iClicker but every point counts in this class. Overall, a great choice to have.

Her notes are fill in the blank during lecture which really help you pay attention. Although the tests for 111B aren't like 111A (12 multiple choice 6 long response) I would recommend doing the back of the book problems to really help. it boosted me from a 69% to an 82%

The class is pretty hard in general, but Chen's lectures help a lot. Go to them and pay attention, and although she barely does iClickers, they're still graded (not just for participating). Exams will bring you down (on average I scored 84), so excel in labs and Masterchem. Networking and asking for resources helped me. DO ANY EXTRA CREDIT!

Very good professor but difficult class. Read the book and do all the activities. I didn't put 100% effort into the class and ended up with a B. Got a 56, 70, 76 for my exams and a 72 on my final. Do all your work because the exams are hard and will bring you down
