Got my first C in college from him. His tests were hard and his final was impossible. He is so rude and acts like he knows everything. He does not care if you succeed and I did not learn a single thing in class. He mumbles and just reads off the slides that make NO sense.

Dr. Barkovskii has a good personality, but teaching style is sub par. He loves what he does but his lectures are pointless you're better off teaching yourself out of the book. Attendance is mandatory. Upper level, expect presentations for 2-3 weeks. He cut classes early which was nice and his labs are interesting.

Do not take this class if you dont plan to work for the grade you want. His test are hard and very specific. Make sure you read the textbook for the tests. If you participate in class and ask questions, you will learn so much better. He is willing to take extra time explaining things but only if you speak up in class.

do not take him-- took over the summer, lectures had no direction and had no idea what to specifically study for. wait for teacher like Parrish to guide you for BIO1107, even his lab was hard and never gave an A on a lab report. He's a great guy, not teaching wise. he knows so much just does not know how to teach students!

Absolutely would never recommend him ever. I took him thinking he would be okay but he made over half of his LABSS drop and that put many behind for other sciences. He is a "it's my way or the highway". Look at the grade distribution and you'll see..... plus he's rude and sarcastic. DO NOT TAKE.... there's 4 test (including final) that are 25% each

Barkovskii is ruthless, doesn't care about your well being, not many tests and don't even think about extra credit.. the thought of this class makes me sick. Took it over the summer and made a D. I studied a lot but he didn't provide notes to go by, just a powerpoint along with gibberish. Did my best and knew i was doomed from the start, don't take

If you skip, you wont pass. His tests are straight from the lectures so you might get away with not even having to purchase his book. He does test on material from the lab manual and what you did. Your grade is based on 2 tests, a presentation, and a final. If you want to take awesome notes for him: lap top required.

Worst class ever. Being a non-science major, I struggled in this class. I took it as a maymester, and it was terrible. Only lectures with powerpoint slides, useless professor not to mention the Russian accent. Tests were confusing and hard. Did not apply even after studying the text and power points. Do not take him.

I just finished his summer I course today and made an A in the class. It is not a walk in the park and you have to put forth effort or you will not do good. He's extremely smart and I even enjoyed talking to him outside of the classroom. If you read the chapters and review his powerpoints prior to the tests you should do fine. Be ready to study!

What is going on here? I saw these ratings before this semester started and was completely dreading his class. come to find out though his class is easy? all test are multiple choice and if you know the material there shouldn't be a reason not to end up with an A. Take him! In my opinion he is the best 1107 teacher right now out of all other profs.

I think the range of comments pretty much explains it. If you are a good student and open minded, you will love this guy. I talk to him regularly outside of class and he is an awesome guy. I am fascinated in biology, and he does a great job of developing an understanding of concepts that are sometimes difficult. Rough if you're lazy, but worth it.

I'm taking him for Maymester right now. He's the best biology professor I've had. Just pay attention in class, read the chapters before, and study a lot. You will make an A.

This guy is awesome! Not only are his tests a breeze but the class is so interesting its not even really that hard to study for stuff. If you just read along with his power point (which is straight out of the book) I promise you will have an A. He is the best!!!!

First of all this class is for Biology MAJORS. The class isn't hard. I studied maybe 4 hours outside of class per test and Aced them all. The test are straight-forward and from the power points. Yes, he has an accent. Sit up front and pay attention. Easy B, Decent A if you remember that you're a bio major. Don't be afraid. Just study his notes.

I really enjoyed him. The class is extremely hard/time consuming but overall interesting. Don't take if you don't have to though. He doesn't go too far into detail so you're kinda left teaching yourself but I liked that. I studied very hard (10hr at least) for each test and ended with a B. His notes are helpful as highlights only. Good teacher.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU CAN HELP IT!! he is a very nice man but he is not a good teacher. if you do end up with him as a professor sit in the front and ask lots of questions. the material and how he explains it is just flat out confusing. my class started off with 40 and ended up with 19, just to give you some kind of clue!

He is an awful teacher. While he does know his subject, he is unwilling to help. Cancelled class right before the exam. I asked if I could email him with questions or come to his office if I had questions- he said, "The time for asking questions is over." DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS

This man is horrible! The class is pure suicide. If you ask him for help, he tells you that you didnt study enough, or he just doesnt know what to tell you. Do NOT take this class.
