Comment:

This is the worst teacher I have ever had. He asks very open ended questions that can't really be answered but expects the answer he wants to hear. Also if you write an essay with a point of view that he does not agree with then you will be marked down. Very unfair grading scale. Only good thing I can say is his tests are open book.

Comment:

Dr. Lidman is not easy. He challenges his students to think and he gets upset when they do not. His praise does not get thrown around without due. However, that alone makes it all the more gratifying when you recieve it. This is a professor that can change your life if you work hard in his class.

I hated this class. I wrote a paper and when we went to conference on it he told me that it was crap and was unclear on how to even fix the paper other then to just start over. No help at all. I do not recommend this class.

Very hard teacher - very few people made A's in his class, I am one of the very few. On the most important paper for the class he told me I was "standing on my religious moral soapbox" & that I needed to "rewrite the paper from the other point of view to try to see things from a different perspective" - mainly because he did not share my views.

The assignments were very broad and vague on what he was wanting out of the paper. His chicken scratch was very unhelpful on figuring out what I did wrong on my papers. Always been told I was an above avg writer but would get C's on papers. I didn't learn anything from him!

Lidman's class teaches almost nothing. Class is dominated by discussion of media. It is all common sense. I have not learned anything from him! Even though he teaches as though his students are in kindergarten, he grades as if they are post-graduate. Lidman is the worst instructor I have had in my first two years of college!Do not take his class!

This class really stunk. Lidman is, for the most part, someone who doesn't give A's, and to someone like me who gets A's most of the time, that's annoying. Try Mike Warren instead.

Grades extremely hard. Lectures about the same subject over and over. (I don't believe he knows he is repeating himself half of the time!) I am a straight A student after 3 papers (all of which I got Cs in) I dropped. Would not recommend taking his class.

He is a tough teacher, but you walk away with a lot of knowledge. Englich 102 was super easy, after 101 with lidman. He is easy to talk to, and will do anything to help as student that is willing to try.

This class was crazy. I would recommend taking another teacher. His grading is unfair. I have received all A's in all of my classes in college until this class. There is 4 papers and a final. If you don't like being called on to answer questions without raising your hand, don't take this class.

I took this class over the summer and this professor should not be teaching college level. he grades extremely hard and expects way more out of the students than he teaches. He only gives you a good grade if he agrees with your paper.

He grades like a college teacher, but teaches like an elementary teacher. You cannot read his handwriting on graded papers and his grading does not match the grading scale of the syllabus. If you ask him what you can do to better your paper basically his answer is useless. You will still get an average grade. He thinks pretty highly of himself.

EXTREAMLY CONFUSING CLASS. One of the hardest classes i have taken not due to the workload but simply due to the harsh and unrealistic grading on papers. discussions in class can be intresting but are useless as far as gaining knowledge on how to write papers. his handwriting on papers is impossible to read.

very hard class. assignments are very broad often so broad that you dont know what your writing about. lectures in class are irrelevant to subject matter needed to know for papers. grades papers very hard and his un-legible handwriting on papers makes it hard to know what you are exactly doing wrong.

Grades really hard. Also, I think that he grades based off whether or not he agrees with your position. The papers are hard to write, because instructions are not clear. Handwriting on graded papers is difficult to read and he does not explain why you got the grade you got.
