Comment:

Lindsey is a great hilarious woman outside of class, but her teaching methods are a bit boring and old-school. She just puts up slides of pictures and talks about them the entire class period. But how else do you teach the history of Art? You do need to memorize artists and pictures which you'll use your book for. Good class to take just to pass.

Comment:

Not a ridiculously hard professor, but I'm not good at memorizing so I struggled. This is one class where reading does actually pay off on the tests. Attendance isn't mandatory but I would recommend going and jotting down thing she repeats. She is kind of moody and makes a lot of mistakes when grading tests. Not the worst - not the best either.

She is not clear at all during lectures and attending them is just a waste of time. You're better off just learning the material on the study guide on your own and only coming to class for quizzes and tests. Her tests are basic and not very in depth making it easy to just memorize the study guide. She turns a fun subject into a boring chore.

Professor Lindsey is not a very good teacher. She is not very clear in her lectures. I was not able to take good notes from her lectures, so I studied on my own and classes were pointless. She gives study guides with way more information then is on the test, so you have to learn a lot of unnecessary information, which takes a lot of time.

Comment:

Boring class, even though I love art. Tests are mostly memorizing slides of art. It is possible to make an A, as long as you memorize the slides and skim the chapters. Going to class helps a lot because you can tell what she will probably put on the test when she lectures.

She is extremely nice. Class is boring most of the time. The lecture consists of many powerpoints with pictures that she explains. The tests are pure memorization. She gives a test study guide on what she expects you to know (Vocab and Art work identification mostly) for all 4 tests. Very helpful and flexible with test schedule if need be.

Dr. Lindsey is really nice, but boring. you literally watch slides the whole time and she goes to fast for you to even write anything down. So you will want the book to take your own notes.. and google. Her tests are over like 6 or 7 chapters at a time. She isn't really clear about what she wants on tests or what she expects of you.

I have never had such a difficult time with a teacher. She's forgetful, unclear, unhelpful, rude, and picks favorites. Her knowledge of art is lacking. I honestly don't know how she is tenured. I love art and took an elective with her. She doesn't know anything about art history and is uninteresting in her lectures. This woman is terrible.

If you do not have an interest in art do not take this woman! She does not connect the history surrounding the art to the actual work, but will expect you to be able to do that on the test. I had no trouble at all with this class...but most people in the class did. Go to class. Things she says in lecture WILL be on the test. Nitpicky tests.

She is not a bad teacher but the class is so ****ing boring. I hate art with a passion now because of this class and after my final tomorrow i will never step foot in an art classroom again. You have to write a 4 page paper on a piece of work from the museum. She does give out study guides for the test.

This woman is awful. The projects were fun at the beginning, but as the year progressed it became clear why she has the reviews she does on here. She is very unclear and forgetful in directions, and is constantly changing her mind. If you want to take this class, pray for some patience! But in my opinion, STAY AWAY

Class was easy but boring. There's a lot of memorization. The tests are easy- straight from the notes and she gives you the questions. The first part of every test, she shows you a slide and you have to name it, sometimes give its country of origin or the era it's from or the artist. Just memorize...

Comment:

Love the subject/hate the class. Not hard, not interesting. Not easy either - doesn't explain anything, has little grasp on the subject, grades based on if she likes you that day, not on your work. No wonder so many people quit the program right after this class. Not much work until last 2 weeks, then lots of "stuff" to do. Unclear expectations.
