I had no problems with her, I thought she was a nice professor and was very generous grading quizzes. Gives helpful feedback on papers and is understanding. Very knowledgeable about grammar. Some of the readings and class discussions got boring but for the most part, good class. Not too much work

Comment:

Dr. Arlene Wilner is a good professor. She is very passionate about English and genuinely wants her students to grasp what she's teaching. She is a very tough grader, and I think that's bc she normally only teaches seniors & honors students, so she always has that "100% or nothing" mentality in her mind when grading. Very helpful with papers though

Comment:

A very tough grader. I went to her for help on papers before they were do & still received low grades. I'm not the best writer so I had upperclassmen & writing majors help me revise my essays & it still didn't bring my grade up much. She expects participatation in class but only wants to hear her opinion. Her way or you're wrong.

Absolute genius. Possibly one of the best professors at Rider. Some people take issue with her, but if you are talkative and intelligent, you will do fine. Grades relatively easy. Definitely my favorite professor so far.

Generally unhelpful. Though the class was supposedly discussion-based, we mostly just listened to her tell us what she thought. Not too difficult of a course, but don't think you'll be able to offer up much of an opinion. Professor alternates between cloying niceness and sarcastic or demeaning comments.

She is a piece of work. She is so sarcastic, but she really knows her stuff. Extremely opinionated, but you can tell she really loves her students and wants them to do well. Do the reading, do the work, and she won't let you fail. Children's Lit was really great. Def. take her!

Dr. Wilner was my advisor for 4 years and let me tell you, she was a terrible advisor. I was an English lit major with no comprehension of math or science and she had me take Chemistry to fulfill a science requirement. Chemistry?? Seriously, wtf. Anyway, I also had her for children's lit and I enjoyed this class a lot.

I have her for Childrens lit. It is a great class and I like Wilner a lot. She is very amusing and has a sense of humor that is sometimes sarcastic,but funny. She does seem to think her own opinon is right but she accepts other opinions as well. Overall, I think shes great and would definately recommend her! Childrens Lit is very interesting

she and brown are quite the challenge; zero absence attendance policy plus 4 papers. def not for slackers, but even if u wanted to learn (like me), she isnt even a clear teacher, let alone a good one. sits down with you the whole time and makes unfunny jokes and acts like an awkward in-law

Comment:

Contrary to popular belief, she does NOT hate anyone who has a different opinion than her. She simply tries to defend all sides of an argument, even the vastly unpopular ones. I recommend her to anyone who doesn't mind a more demanding professor. She is NOT and easy A, but she is a great teacher who genuinely cares about her student's education.

The class does not coincide with the History class as promised and the professors never communicate. Textbook use is minimal, you might as well just read the stories online. She is closed minded and rude. She'll tell you to shut your mouth in class because she's talking. By the way look out for that weird head jerk thing she does....

Her opinion is the only opinion, and you better like it or she'll imply that you are stupid. She's fake and patronizing. She'll call you "brilliant" for the dumbest things. It's about her--something's not quite right. She dresses good, and she knows it.

I took her for Issues in Multicultural Literature and it was the best class ever! We watched films, read great interesting books about culture and she even bought us pizza one day near the end of the semester. I learned so much in this class and she was extremely sweet and helpful and very educated.

Not a very good teacher. She seems easy at first but then does a 360 on you. Didn't like her at all.. Lectures are boring and reading is long. You want to take her.. Enjoy. I won't ever take her again.

Dedicated, smart, and funny. She stimulates discussion all the time. She rocks, seriously. I enjoyed every minute of her class.
