Comment:

Dr. Beyene is pretty funny. Be on the look out for his "magics." Semester started out with some difficult hw assignments and then became really easy. Two 3 person group projects. Probably the most difficult part of the class is doing the projects. He doesn't really use the textbook. We only used it the first 6 weeks and then became useless.

Prof. Beyene is a smart man, but his lectures are terrible. You absolutely need the book, and make sure you show up to lecture because he gives pop quizzes. His midtem was made up of all class examples so it definitely helps to show up. Did alright in his class but I had to study hard.

The thermo classes are abstract and challenging but he puts in the effort to make it more simple. Missing class will harm you because of the subject complexity, but as long as you attend and do all the hw you'll be fine. His tests/quizzes are more than fair and relate closely to the hw. Great instructor that masters his subject.

Homework, quizzes,and 2 tests. You MUST read to keep up with this class. He isn't a great lecturer but he is a very smart and nice guy. He definitely cares about his students. His research is interesting and he goes off on some insightful tangents every now and then. He will tell you all semester that he doesn't curve but really he does at the end.

I have taken two of Beyene?s classes, and got a B and a B+, better than in most my other classes. I think especially the ME 555 was one of my best classes at SDSU. He is an excellent teacher, but may be not for lazy students who just want free grades. If you want to learn, I strongly recommend him.

By far one of the worst professors I have ever had! He assigned HW and once we turned it in and learned the method taught in the book, he proceeds to teach us a different method and proceeds to make tests based on that not the method you learn from the book. So if you don't know his method for the test...you're screwed.Boring! Avoid him if possible

By far, ME 452 is one of the toughest classes I have ever taken and Dr. Beyene doesn't make it any easy. The quizzes are 30 points and that's what costed me a good grade. The tests are well made and test you, I wish he had more weight for tests. You have to on top of everything to score an A in his class.

I had Dr. B for ME 452 and I have him now for ME 555. The thing with him is you have to go to class. Because most of the hw and the tests depends on your notes. He's particular about hw, but I mean it's engineering. What are you expecting? He's helpful and responds to emails. Just take good notes and turn your hw on time. Not hard!

Terrible teacher. Lectures are dreadfully boring with very few example problems that are too simple. Lectures are always a chapter or 2 ahead of HW. Tips: take good notes, do the HW, and TAKE THE QUIZES SERIOUSLY (this killed me in the end). all quiz questions and some test questions come from class notes. Good luck!

Good thing I LOVE ENGINES, or else I wouldn't have got my B. Beyene leaves lots of work to be done by the student, which means you really have to spend ur own time to learn, but if you jus read the book before lecture, you'll be in awesome shape. Lots of work, hard tests, but only cause it's lots of material. Beyene could've helped more in class.
