Comment:

Professor Gizzi provided us with the pdf version of our textbook which saved us a lot of money. The course was informative and well structured. She is an advocate for human rights and her course(GSS)reflects that ideology. This class was lecture heavy but class participation made it fun. All in all, Id highly recommend this class!!

Comment:

Awesome class & professor! A lot of reading in short period of time (summer class), but fun & interesting. As long you read & participate you will do well. She offers extra credit & is really understanding. Syllabus says no extensions , but I had an internet outage and missed a quiz & she let me take it late. She cares & wants you to succeed.

Response to emails within a reasonable time. Gives 15 Discussions and takes the top 10 grades. Extra Credit is offered (2). However, she does not grade very fast, 2 papers were required. I didn't know the grade for the first one until about a week before the end of class...

I took Bethany's online Soc course and while it was A LOT of work, very writing intensive, I enjoyed it. She is a tough grader so you need to read thoroughly especially with discussion questions. She is very "hands off" but also very accessible if you need it and just ask.

Took her online course. She's very nice about meeting in person and responding to emails. A lot of the course was BS/busywork though. Didn't learn much. She also didn't grade our activities on time. Very self-reliant course; felt isolated. Almost never used the textbook/read the material, did just fine.

All of the expectations for this online course were clearly explained in the syllabus. There are discussion questions, weekly open book quizzes and a reflection paper. Quiz grades are posted immediately after they are completed. I would recommend taking this class.

I submitted my first reflection paper the end of March & didn't get a grade until beginning of May. I emailed her the week before inquiring on the grade & said she was getting ready to post the grade. It didn't show up for another 8 days. Same w/ discussions. I am worried that this last paper she is just going to skim & not really read due to time

This class was great! Professor Gizzi gives clear information on what to expect and is really helpful if you have questions or problems. I missed an assignment because of a medical issue and she was really nice and accommodating. The discussion topics were really interesting and a great way to really think more deeply about the subject.

Professor Gizzi provides clear expectations, you just have to read and pay attention to all of the syllabus documents. As long as you read, participate, and pay attention, you'll be fine. She expects people to be responsible for their own work. She also provides extra credit and she is really nice if you have an issue or a question.

I have taken two sociology classes with Bethany, and will be taking one more with her before I am finished at MCC. She is a wonderful teacher, passionate about her subject and is there for her students. Be respectful, communicate with her if you are having issues and participate in class and you will do fine!

To everyone complaining about her online courses-if you need your hand held all semester you shouldn't be taking an online course. Remember the word INDEPENDENT as it is the most important key to any online course. Participate-do your work- and you'll get a good grade. Prof. Gizzi is very accommodating and helpful & gives chances for extra credit

I have taken many online classes. This was the worst! She is über slow posting grades and is slow to respond to emails. Her course info boast "expect 5-7 day turn around time for discussion forum grades." What? More like 3-4weeks. A project due 4/25 worth 150 pts, no grade. This is the last week of class and 1/3 of my grade has not been graded yet

I am confused with this professor. She doesn't grade fairly and you don't see the grades right away. She doesn't put comments next to the grade either. She says you have to participate at least three times to get full points. and I catch her taking off a few points even though I answered thoroughly more than several times. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS

The class is overall pretty easy and interesting. You have to participate in discussions and note taking, or you won't be able to pass the tests. You have to study for the tests, but I never read the book and got an A in the course. She is boring at times and sometimes the class is hard to sit through. NEVER TAKE HER ONLINE CLASSES.They're so hard!

she is awesome! I absolutely love her and wish I would of took all my soc classes with her. she gives you an opportunity to fix your grade after a test, shes very honest and blunt and shes just great! love love love would deff recommend and do recommend to anyone who is taking her class.

I took this online during intersession and had the same experience as everyone else: very slow to post grades and doesn't give any feedback for anything. She gives a lot of reading for a short period of time. If you are good at keeping up with posting early, it seems like you'll do okay, but idk. We didn't have our first grades until the last week.

Be in class, raise your hand, participate, and embrace the awesomeness that is radiated from this woman and all that she stands for. She knows what she is talking about and will have your name memorized. She went through attendance one day and then said all of our names back after a few minutes, but she did it backwards. it was awesome! LOVE HER!
